Well maintained area for all rescue animals. Very well looked after by knowledgeable and fully trained staff. Timothy my guide today was excellent and very passionate about the work. This is a wonderful place that has no government funding and is sold relient by entrance fees and donations. I would definitely recommend it to any visitors in the area.

Having been to several national parks and conservancies, I can say that this orphanage is truly special and one of a kind.
Our guide, Josphat, was exceptional—his knowledge and passion for the animals was incredible. We spent an easy 2hrs going through each enclosure and discussing the stories behind the animals and the conservancy plans.
Some reviews mention small enclosures etc but after taking the time to speaking with the guides, its clear that these are part of well-thought-out, strategic plans for the animals’ care, breeding, and rehabilitation especially around Bongos.
This was one of the best wildlife experiences I've ever had and especially if you are staying at Fairmont this is a must visit!

I went to the animal orphanage today and was very very disappointed. Cost 40 US dollars which is a rip off. Enclosures are too small and it is a poor excuse for a sanctuary.

A very impressive, and fascinating place. There are numerous rescued and injured animals being cared for. Plus you can pet Bongo, buffalo, ostrich, and huge turtles. Plus lions, leopards and cheetah. Highly recommended. Do not miss

A special experience.
The tour guides are very helpful and will take you round sharing lots of the animals backgrounds and how they ended up at the orphanage. They also shared how they are helping other animals to get back into the wild.
You can get very hands on with some of the animals which you would never get to experience in the UK.
We really enjoyed spending 1-2 hours here.
We also popped into the Fairmount hotel which you get a gate pass off the guards, you have to spend 3000 each. We had lunch and went for a bike safari to make the most of the day out.

My friend and I made it a special point to visit the Mt. Kenya Wildlife Conservancy & Orphanage, while on Safari in Kenya, and were not disappointed. Andrew Mulani expertly led us through and explained in great detail about each animal in care and the efforts being made to save the critically endangered Bongo—a beautiful, large auburn antelope. The animals present ranged from residents such an ancient tortoise named Speedy, who loved having his chin rubbed, and an ostrich named Esther, who loved corn on the cob, to orphaned baby bongo and zebra, and injured or maimed animals who would not have been able to live in the wild on their own—including a partially blind lioness and a three-pawed cheetah that still climbs trees like a champ. One incredibly rare mangaboon named Safari—a “man-made” hybrid that cannot be introduced into the wild—was for me a sobering reminder of the responsibility humans have to preserve nature thoughtfully. Other efforts noted included educational outreach to the next generation of Kenyans to respect and care for wild animals in light of the growing animal-human conflict as a result of Kenya’s agricultural economy on animal migration routes and ecosystems. Overall, it was enjoyable, educational and inspiring.

Wonderful tour with Esther as she took us around to experience the animals. Great information on the history of how each animal was rescued and their personal story.

If I stay at the Eagle's nest (the log cabin) is there any transportation to and from the lodge for meals? I will not have a car. Would I need a car to see the bongo and other animals?
Is there a reason to stay at the eagles nest rather than the lodge, if my main interest is to see the bongo?
thank you

I am not familiar with the Eagles Nest. We loved the lodge, however. Rooms were lovely, easy walk to dining and also to the animal sanctuary nearby. Gorgeous views. Rooms have fireplaces and they will build an evening fire for you if you like. There are also golf carts that you can call for a if you need a ride on the property.

My memory fails me, but i think it was between Ksh 800- Ksh 1,200. Get in touch with them (or Mt. Kenya Safari Club) to confirm the rate.

Hello. Do you take credit cards for entry fees? Also how far are you from the Nanyuki sports club?
Scritta in data 25 maggio 2018
There was not one when we went, it was with vantage travel so I am not sure if there is. If there is we would have paid it. They are really trying to save to Bongos and what they do is wonderful
