This is a quiet little park just outside Temple Square. I stopped for a bit while walking back from the Capitol. They have a waterwheel and some pioneer implements along with some benches to take a load off.

This green oasis not only tells the story of early Mormon pioneer life but provides a place to rest and contemplate. We enjoyed a short rest on a bench in the shade of the trees. This park land was once part of Brigham Young's farm. Probably of most importance is the standing remnants of an old wall of Brigham Young's farm and a stone wall made with remnants from the original wall around his farm. An active wooden water wheel powered by City Creek is most photogenic. There are a number of statues placed throughout the park that depict activities of Mormon pioneer life. I especially enjoyed the vegetable gardens. On summer Friday evenings concerts are held in the park.

This is a slightly out of the way quiet park where one can saunter, think, and rest. It has some historical interest, but I found it mostly just a restful place for quiet contemplation.

Located within a short distance of Temple Square is this small, grassy park. I passed this park on my way (uphill) to the State Capitol building. There is an attractive water wheel and pond as well as several statues depicting life back in the 19th century spread throughout the park. Benches are present - perfect for contemplating life in this peaceful setting.

If you don't know much about Brigham Young or haven't read anything about the man who led the Mormons on their epic migration from Nauvoo, Illinois, to the Salt Lake Valley in the mid-1800s, you'll receive a thorough education after visiting Salt Lake City, Utah. One must-stop is the Brigham Young Historic Park, a beautiful green area located at the southeast corner of State Street and North Temple, just east of Temple Square featuring statue memorials and a pioneer feel with a water wheel spinning through the free-flowing City Creek. This historic park is a representation of the lives and industry of Brigham Young and the early pioneers with statues in the park depicting pioneering efforts. Items such as the water wheel powered by City Creek, a portion of the old wall of Brigham Young's farm that stands in place and the gardens are all reminiscent of the farm once found here. The Young's family estate, which included this site, extended north of Eagle Gate nearly three blocks. It included the eastern half of the block where the Lion and Beehive Houses are located and continued east up the hill for approximately two blocks. The property was large enough to accommodate carpenter and shoe shops, as well as a pigeon house barns, sheds and corrals. What they called the "upper garden" had vegetables, fruits and an orchard of apple, peach, pear and walnut trees, as well as beehives. In 1995, the park was declared a "refuge from the rush and hurry of the city where the weary my sit and rest with the soft music of moving water and provide an oasis for contemplation and reflection." A variety of concerts are held in the evenings in the summer months, making the park a unique oasis in downtown Salt Lake City.

I remember coming to this park for years. And I like it because it is peaceful especially during a summer after noon. It makes a nice location to talk a walk and seeing a few examples how life was like in the 1840s-1900s here in Utah. It radiates with pioneer legacy, and helps us understand the sacrifices and hard work that the former pioneers invested in colonizing Utah and surrounding regions in the western United States.

Located kitty-corner from Temple Square on the northeast side, Brigham Young Historic Park is a tiny but quaint and pretty little park. If you're looking for a break from the crowds, this is the place to go. There are lots of benches and shade, and the landscaping is well-kept and meant to reflect the pioneer history of the place. There are few plaques giving a bit of history given about Brigham Young's farm. There is no parking available anywhere nearby, so a visit to this park is a good add-on to visiting Temple Square.

We went to Brigham Young Historic Park. The park is on land that Brigham Young used as his farm. We liked the various fountains, statues, and park. There is information signs throughout the park to read more about Brigham Young and his family's farm.
The park is across the street from Temple Square.
During the summer, they hold well attended summer concerts in the park.
The park is a memorial to Brigham Young.
