Fantastic experience would recommend it to everyone, chef was very easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about all his herbs and had us trying and smelling everything before we got started

The Balinese cooking class with chef Prawita at THE SANTAI Umalas Bali was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Our transfer from THE SANTAI was punctual and comfortable, with a polite and English-speaking driver who made the 35-minute ride from Double Six Seminyak enjoyable. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by friendly staff who provided us with information about the location. A refreshing tropical drink set the tone for the class.
The cooking class began at 1pm in a beautiful private villa with a well-equipped kitchen. Chef Prawita introduced himself and provided us with chef's hats and aprons. We were presented with a 3-course menu and given a detailed explanation of the spices, vegetables, oils, and aromatics used in Balinese cuisine. Allergies were confirmed to ensure a safe and enjoyable cooking experience.
The personalized nature of the class, with one-on-one instruction from our personal chef, made it truly special. We learned how to cook authentic Balinese dishes while assisting Chef Prawita every step of the way. The attentive staff served each course we prepared and took care of housekeeping, allowing us to focus on the culinary experience.
The serene villa setting, surrounded by nature and the sounds of birds and falling leaves, added to the overall tranquility of the experience. The cost of the 5-hour class was surprisingly affordable considering the quality of service and instruction we received from the time of pick up. As a thoughtful gesture, we were gifted an apron, a recipe book, and a chef's certificate to commemorate the experience.
Booking through Viator was straightforward, making the entire process seamless. The total cost of $160 AUD was well worth the unforgettable memories and newfound culinary skills gained from this enriching cooking class.

My husband and I received a private cooking lesson at the Santai. Beautiful setting, excellent tuition and a chance to eat the delicious dishes cooked. Great value for money, and the souvenir apron was a nice touch. Would highly recommend - a very enjoyable experience

This was quite the experience! Really beautiful setting, helpful instruction, and great food! My wife and I chose this class almost at random online and were very glad we did. It was in a different hotel than where we were staying but a wonderful driver drove us both ways (included in the class). Our class ended up being just the two of us and we still received excellent service and instruction. We learned about all the different ingredients in Balinese food and ate like kings. Highly recommend!

Took the the 3 rooms villa. Breakfast and the staffs are excellent.
However the speaker and entertainment system needs improvement. The JBL speaker was super bad. And tv was bad. Cleanliness behind the fridge and dvd player in the kitchen was dirty full of spider web..
but overall its was a good stay..

Thank you for choosing The Santai again, we were delighted to have you back with us and delighted to learn that overall you had a good stay.
We appreciated very much for all your constructive feedback and happy to share with you that we have now been replacing and upgrading the JBL speaker with a new one and new model with bluetooth system. Also in the process of gradually changing the television from 40 to be 50 inches and may take some time to be all completed.
Thank you for highlighting the cleanliness and definitely we will address this immediately with our housekeeper to improve.

Me and my husband had a lovely class today. Everything was taken good care of by the friendly staff. We cooked three dishes which were very delicious! Before we started the chef showed and gave us more info on the ingredients. And during the class all steps were clearly explained. The class took place in one of the beautiful villas. Reccommend this!

We were welcomed by Chef Gede and his staff. Our cooking class for 4 was held in one of the lovely villas. We assisted with cooking 6 different dishes and Gede explained about all the herbs and spices we were using, we found it very informative. After the dishes were cooked we sat by the edge of the pool and enjoyed a delightful 3 course lunch. We were also served a selection of different juices. I would highly recommend this class.

Had a fantastic afternoon learning how to make authentic Balinese curry and black rice pudding with chef! It was only myself and my husband which was great!! Super location just right outside Seminyak so a good activity to do if you don’t want to be out all day! Thank you so much for all the tips! Definitely going to try at home!
