Il museo è ben organizzato e molto pulite e ben tenute. Il docente era un uomo locale, che ha avuto una vasta quantità di conoscenze circa i contenuti del museo e la zona locale. Ci sono un sacco di oggetti e pezzi unici di storia locale. Vari tipi di schermi e anche alcuni video - soprattutto apprezzato il video silenziosa dell'immagine - abbiamo guardato per un lungo periodo di tempo. Ci siamo stati per 2 1 / 2 - una delle ore deve vedere!

Più o meno organizzati cronologicamente, il museo è divertente per un tour self-service - visita guidata. Ci sono un SACCO di oggetti nel museo di molte aree di interesse. Check-out le cucine parallele, il modello della ferrovia, una mostra di gioielli di asciugacapelli e il Ceylon Corte display, tra molte altre cose.

Lots of local history inside

There's a lot to see here! If you're pressed for time or wanting a shorter visit, head past the "Main St." section to the exhibits in the back. Don't miss the Ceylon House exhibit. There's also a small room about Gary Gygax and Dungeons and Dragons. The docents are very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice way to take a break from the crowds in the shops or on the beach.

Must see!

We would recommend this 1000 percent. It was not what we’re expecting but so much better. They have it preserved so nicely. So worth seeing

The Christmas Trees

The various Christmas decorations and well as the seeing how people lived in the past. A walk back into history it reminded me of a Milwaukee museum exhibit but it applied to the lakes area

Great way to spend 2 hours

Great place to spend a couple of hours learning the history of the area. It starts with right before the European settlers arrived and continues through to the current period. The first street makes you really feel like you are back in the late 1800s. There's sheets for kids to "find stuff" throughout - which makes it like a treasure hunt. The guides are very helpful There's several rooms dedicated to particular time periods.

Great family time to show the Grandchildren "How it was."

Very interesting museum and a bargain for the price! Excellent learning experience for children to see "how it was" during different eras. We were there when they had the Christmas tree display and you could vote on your favorite. The kids enjoyed that they were able to vote.

kids loved this museum
set 2022
We brought our 7- and 9-year-old boys to this museum on a rainy afternoon. To our surprise, they absolutely LOVED it. There is an incredible wealth of historic objects in this museum--some everyday, some extraordinary--all displayed in a way to allow kids to interact. Truly this is a hidden gem, and I highly recommend it for all ages.

Eileen greeted us and told us a little about the experience we were going to enjoy!! She is very well informed and was a great help. We thoroughly enjoyed all the exhibits especially the MAP room it was very fascinating. We had just been on the Grand Belle Boat for a tour of Geneva Lake and for a Luncheon and Frank 2 Frankie Show everything was great. We enjoyed a cruise last October on the Walworth which is also known as the U. S. Mailboat. In the map room they had on display books you could buy in the gift shop. I LOVED the Discover Lake Geneva Book and purchased it; I have been reading it and can't put it down!!

Great place to visit for an hour or so

This museum is well worth a visit. It is $9 per adult and our teenager was free. Very interesting to walk through the "old town" and so many things to see. We were so glad we decided to stop and check it out.

Interesting displays. We had our family photo done years ago, dressed in vintage clothing. It is a fun experience.

Hidden gem -- Great experience for the whole family

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children, boy 8 and girl 5. Thankfully a signboard outside showed that this museum was open. We presented our Groupon and were greeted by a friendly volunteer, Carole. She gave the kids a clipboard and an "I Spy" paper with about 25 different pictures of items to find throughout the museum. We spent about 2 hours looking and touching the exhibits. Children were able to sit on an old time tractor and fire engine. There were manikins on the "Main Street", dressed in vintage clothing as well as inside many of the rooms -- Soda Shop, Drug Store, House Parlor and Bedroom from the 1800s, School Room, etc. We were able to touch all the items, which kept the kids' attention. The General Store had an original sales book showing purchases by customers. The School Room had vintage textbooks. The model train set with buttons to make things move and light up was a real hit. The volunteers were very friendly and interacted with us, but didn't make us feel that we were being watched. We would recommend this place to all ages.
