I had been to Haiti before and loved visiting the pools and waterfalls of Bassin Bleu. The guide that took me to the falls was in the process of building a guest house he gave me his contact information and said that if I ever come back to Haiti that I should stay with him in his guest house. A few years later 2 of my brothers and I wanted to go to Haiti so I contacted Sadrac and learned that his guest house was operating, so rather than just visit Bassin Bleu, my brothers and I stayed there for 4 nights! Staying right in the village of Bassin Blue is magical- incredibly relaxing and beautiful. We swam in the falls everyday and went from there into Jacmel and area for day trips, including visiting the amazing Carnaval! While we were there meals were cooked for us on site on a charcoal fire. The rooms were clean and comfortable. AND SO INEXPENSIVE. I felt so incredibly fortunate to have met Sadrac and gotten the opportunity to stay at his little hotel. I will be going again.
Sadrac is a guide to the falls and can get you there from Jacmel or even Port-au-Prince. He has a Toyota Forerunner and can take you to all the sites throughout Haiti. Rooms are $15US/night 10-2 people per room, breakfast is $5/person, Lunch and dinner $8/person. Sadrac whatsapp/cel +50937187966

Wow! An exquisite natural interactive wonder. Bright aqua pools cascade into waterfalls of rejuvenation for mind, body, soul. Highlight is the rope/rappelling down a Boulder into the Bleu. You feel like Indiana Jones!

Éste lugar te muestra lo hermoso que es Haití. Vale la pena conocerlo. Las aguas son hermosas y hay mucha vegetación. Si eres extranjero debes asegurarte ir con alguien de confianza sino intentarán cobrarte más caro. Para tomar moto debes acercarte a la "Maché Bo Dlo" o "Portail Bainet" en la ciudad de Jacmel, el viaje dura aproximadamente 30 minutos si se cruza el río directamente, pero 45 minutos si se cruza por un puente. Cuesta aproximadamente 250 gourdes. Hay que pagar una entrada y se paga a un guía también. En total necesitas unos 1500 gourdes para hacer el viaje tranquilo. El camino es complicado, no apto para personas mayores. Recomiendo visitarlo pero siempre estar muy atentos para evitar que te cobren de más.

Magnifique sortie au bassin Bleu!!Une vue incroyable,un paradis sur terre!Une excursion assez facile,un petit peu d’escalade de descente mais 3 magnifiques bassins qui valent le coup de voir!

Incredible natural beauty. Very clean and safe (especially if you have a guide to watch your phone while you swim). Short little hike then one of the most refreshing swims I've ever had. Highly reccommend.

Hi... is there an entrance fee for Bassin Bleu? If so, how much?

HI, there isa nominal fee to access the site but you are required house guides get to the various pools. The walk is not easy, and if it has rained in the past days the bassin will not be blue, but rather a murky brown. The guides worked tips and decline to quote a price before departure. They try to get the most they can from you. Anything more than 20$ US per person is almost robbery, i've heard of people paying upwards of 50$ which is a total ripoff
How popular is Bassin Bleu with tourists? Is it busy? Moderate? Almost empty?

Well when I went with my friend to bassin we went early in the morning and it was the first day of carnaval in Jacmel so it was perfect no tourists at all ! I would not be able to tell you wether it was because people were preparing carnaval or luck though... good luck to you and I was you won’t cross many people:D it is worth it anyway !!

Hi! Sorry i have just seen your question..
Bassin bleu is in the south near jacmel and labadee is north, if you go by bus from north to south you will need 7hours ... but from labadee i would suggest you take a small fisher boat (just outside the touristy labadee beach) and go to l’île a rat nice empty and very tiny beach ! You can also ask to go to bananier beach you need to negociate the price at least half the price they tell you!!

Hello, we are visiting Haiti this summer and would love to get to the falls however we are coming in by cruise ship to Labadee, do you think a local taxi would take us all the way to the falls or should we arrange a private transfer? Also did you wear water shoes? Many thanks

I assume you're talking about the resort Royal Decameron north of Port au Prince. It was a three hour drive from PaP to Jacmel which is basically where Bassin Bleu is. I don't know how far it is from the Royal Decameron to PaP, but I'm guessing 2-3 hrs as well. It's not that far as the crow flies, but everything takes longer in Haiti due to traffic; especially in PaP.
How much does it cost, is it a public place or private?

You can pretty much sit on the edge and slide in, on the pond side.
Some people were climbing up on the underside of the waterfall (which is the opposite side to where you enter) and jumping off from a high point there (looked risky to me!) But there's no need to take a high dive to enjoy Bassin Blue just for a swim or to sit on the rocks in the centre.
