Discovered this small urban park on my morning run; it was a block from my hotel on Commerce St (Hampton Inn). Nice variety of lawn, bench seating, activity spaces, playground and a dog run. I found it very relaxing in the morning and easy and safe-feeling to stroll through one evening. It seemed well-lit and patrolled by security, too. Not a destination, but certainly a nice spot for a lunch or coffee break.

A very large green space. Throughout the year many community events and festivals occur here. Most noted for Smoked Texas!! which has 20 Smoked meat businesses showing their wares.
Park recently went through a redesign and renovation that added a fenced dog area for the pets to run free, More shaded space and swings-slides-playground area for kids and parents to enjoy.
A very welcome addition to the area.

Not what I thought it was going to be. Just a rectangle square area where a public yoga class was happening. I saw a bunch of booth/tables thinking I could buy unique stuff from Texas. It was mainly just health/wellness stuff/pills/drinks, essential oils, etc. if you’re into yoga and stuff like that it would be awesome. Google what days they have stuff going on before you come. It is pet friendly with a dog park and little playground for kids. The water sculpture thing was the only part I actually cared for, but with kids or a dog it could be fun and a nice little walk

This park is a breath of fresh air in the heart of Downtown Dallas.
It's sad that their cafe shop and WC are out of service and closed indefinitely.
Park urban attractions / furniture is a bit worn, yet the park is large and conveniently located

The park is little but inviting. A few things to look at and a couple of photo ops.g good place to take a break.

Full of modern elements, the green nooks were interesting in providing a space personal conversation. A great lawn allows for open play too!

The classic European plaza has a church on one side and the seat of government on the other; Main Street Garden is missing a church but still serves the classic purpose. The Dallas Municipal Courts are housed on the east end in a Beaux Arts building that is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. And yes, Ruby shot Oswald in the sallyport there.
On the north side sits a former department store turned college. West is a high rise residence and south is... a plan. With students, professionals, residents and citizens with traffic business there are plenty of people to look at. A place to eat, a dog park, some stuff for kids to goof on, a central lawn that gets pick up soccer games and festivals on the weekends.
But my favorite part is the sign. The east end used to be a parking garage and the business that ran it had a big black and yellow sign that said (shock) "PARK". When the building was destroyed they saved the sign and display it at the SE corner, where the verb is now a noun. Grammarians approve.

*Let me preface this by saying that a lot this review applies to MOST downtown parks in pretty much any large city. Here it goes...*
DO NOT SIT ON THE GRASS. I know it seems like a great idea to takes your kids or significant other to the park, and enjoy the views from the sprawling lawn. Just keep in mind that any residents living in the area who have dogs have to take them out multiple times a day and it is probably to the park you're at.
This park in particular sits in the middle of about 10 residential high-rises, which means there's AT LEAST 100 dog owners who each have at least one dog. Take into consideration that those dog owners take their dogs out to potty about 3-4 times a day. That's roughly 100 or more dogs that are peeing (and such) 3-4 times a day, which means that lovely lawn you're sitting on has been peed on 300-400 times IN JUST ONE DAY. The only reason I know is because we actually have two dogs and they go out four times a day.
The moral of the story? Enjoy yourself, but don't sit on the grass.
Now I'll move on to the other much better parts of being at this park.
1. There's a little cafe that sells build-your-tacos, soft drinks and booze. You can sit on their big, beautiful porch and watch everything going on around you. The prices are good, the food is great, and the view is flippin' awesome.
2. There's a little kid park off to one side so your rugrats can run around with other little rugrats.
3. There's a fenced in dog park on the Commerce Street side with little obstacles and stuff for your dogs to play on.
4. When it's nice out you'll find a kickball league out playing on Tuesday evenings.
5. During the holidays there's a massive Christmas tree and beautiful decorations.
6. Festivals and small concerts are held here occasionally, and you can probably find information for that here: http://www.downtowndallas.com/do/#/parks/3809
7. There are 5-6 restaurants within a block of the park, so if you get hungry (and don't want to eat at the park cafe) you have lots of options.
I think that's it for now. You should definitely check it out. Just don't sit on the grass. ;)
