An excellently planned and led event for a very large party. Lucy was exceptional throughout and her team were highly professional and wonderful with the students and adults. Nothing was too much trouble and their knowledge of history was second to none. Everyone had a great day with fantastic memories to take away with them. Thanks to the Creswell Crags team. I can highly recommend this venue for school trips, team building and celebration events.

My wife and I were very happy with our trip to Creswell Crags. We had a very pleasant walk around the lake which had some lovely views to enjoy. My wife particularly enjoyed seeing the wild flowers, particularly the orchids. At one point on this excursion it rained and soon after hailed but this did not dampen our enjoyment.

We visited visitors centre which was very modern and the facilities were good and well maintained. We enjoyed a snack and drink at the cafe and although we didn’t buy anything at the shop it was good to see that the quality and type of items on sale were a lot better than many of the items you see for sale at similar locations.

We certainly intend to return. Hopefully on a sunny day.

An absolute gem that is a must see, as home of the oldest cave art in the UK, and the northernmost cave art in Europe. It's also a beautiful place with good facilities for visiting (cafe, museum, shops, playground for kids). Given the significance of the site it's a surprise to me that it doesn't have World Heritage status. Certainly it deserves to be better known as a true treasure for our country. Do buy a ticket to do one of the informative tours- it helps bring the site to life and is the only way to see the art that's there. This is our third visit. There are different tours, so you can pick according to your interests. Also worth keeping an eye on their website as they sometimes run activities aimed particularly at children.

Amazing place to go to, the staff need a raise! Always see them litter picking or walking around and making sure everyone's OK. Good range of food in the cafe, cafe looks pretty bog standard nothing exciting, but there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the kids loved seeing the downstairs museum section. We didn't do a cave tour as we didn't have the time but definitely on the agenda for next time! It has a pay and display carpark which we didn't mind, it's worth it for all of the fun that we had.

A lovely place to visit. Great location. Good visitors' centre. The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining.
There are three guided tours that show three parts of two of the caves. Certainly worthwhile, but I think that at least two of them could be combined in to one. To enable visits to each of the sites requires a full day visit due to the timing and length of the tours. It also makes the trip quite expensive as there isn't a discount for booking all Three tours at the same time. A single tour taking in all three sites would be preferable.

Beautiful location, well set out visitors centre, cafe and gift shop and friendly staff. We were both looking forward to our first impromptu visit and booked the caves guided tour, with reference to Wooly Mammoths, Sabre tooth Tigers, wolves and cave men in the visitor centre. £15.00 per ticket, x two to walk wearing an orange Safety helmet (where other members of the public had free access to) to then go into one cave (being only up a few steps and few meters inside) and see two cave drawings that were so difficult to make out the guide needed a torch and a Lazer pen, the third drawing so far away we had to be shown what it looked like on an iPad. That was it no further caves, hand your helmet in and walk back. I don't mind paying for things, but considering the amount charged I feel totally ripped off and certainly would not recommend.

James, thanks for taking the time to leave a review, and were sorry to read that your visit was so disappointing. It sounds like you expected to be on our Life in the Ice Age tour (LITIA), but in fact booked on the Art in the Ice Age Tour. There's a brief intro to all our tours on the screen behind reception, and also plenty of detail about them on our website too. The LITIA tour covers the animals and people that visited or lived here during the ice age (although sadly the Sabre Tooth Tiger isn't actually an animal, and actually the Smilodon didn't live in Britain). We take our helmets outside to save time on our tours - they're certainly not for anyone to borrow, and are reserved solely for our cave tour guests. You were clearly dissappointed by the Ice Age art, which is a real shame, considering it's one of the oldest pieces in the country. And, whilst we acknowlege it's difficult to see, early humans and neanderthals didn't have the luxury of paper, canvas or galleries to ensure their art lived on forever, and our caves were accessible to the entire world until their true value was recognised and they were gated off. It's beyond our control that the engravings have worn away in the thousands of years since they were created, hence why we use the laser pointer to help you distinguish them. We're sorry you were disappointed, and feel so strongly to leave such a low tripadvisor score. We trust that you spoke with our wonderful front of house team or your tour facilitator about your disappointment? If not, we'd have gladly been able to sort out the issue at the time of your visit. Thanks for visiting. As a charity we rely on donations from our visitors to keep our doors open, and as with everyone, we've seen all of our costs increase exponentially over recent years, so we really do appreciate the time you spent with us.

Check the Website. Picked up a leaflet, there was no mention of the fact the tours don’t run on school days. In the cafe it stated tours run every day. The receptionist, (who couldn’t have been more disinterested if she had tried to be, appeared totally unbothered by the fact we had driven a long way to be there). The tours apparently rarely run in school time. The place is very child centred, and the information available, was very sparse and aimed at a very low level

The site needs handing over to professionals. The whole thing was disappointing and very amateurish.

The walk through the gorge was pleasant enough, but short.

This review makes us really sad and we're very sorry this happended to you. We have taken your complaint really seriously, and we've spoken with all the team members you met on the day to put together a picture of the experience you received. Having read your recent reviews for other places on TripAdvisor, it's clear for all to see that you're a fan of visiting museums, so we're sure you'll understand that an archaeological park, run solely by a charity reliant on visitors to stay open, needs to be accessible to everyone regardless of age. Therefore, as our budgets are extremely tight we do our best with what we have, and, like the majority of charities, rely heavily on our website to convey information. Our tour schedule is clearly available online, as is all the information you required prior to your visit. As we discussed with you during your visit the website has become the general first point of contact for all visitors to any attraction these days, and should the internet not provide the inormation you were looking for, we clearly advertise our phone number for anyone to call us. As for our team, we've reviewed your visit, witnessed for ourselves, and also received the views of independent visitors privvy to your experience who were in the museum building at that time, that our front of house reception was incredibly professional, courteous and polite. The lady you spoke to receives positive comments from visitors day in day out for her attitude and friendly nature. Thanks for taking the time to leave the review.

Our visit to Cresswell Crags was a perfect day out. Even in bad weather we loved feeding the ducks at the pond and having icecream at the cafe.
The best part of our trip was the Cave Tour. We managed to go on the ice age cave tour, and our tour guide Sarah Lee was fantastic and engaging! We learned a lot, and even saw a little bit of cave art!
It was a really good day out and I would love to visit again!

We had a brilliant family day out, starting with the cave art tour which was totally fascinating, a lovely walk around the lake and gorge which are beautiful, a great coffee and cake in the cafe, an interesting look at the exhibits and a look to round the books and gift shop which my kids loved and I bought a book I can’t wait to read to find out more. An excellent day out.
