“Hidden gem”

I Musei non sono esattamente il numero per le coppie di andare ma dato che io e la mia fidanzata abbiamo solo spostato qui, abbiamo voluto imparare la cultura. Si tratta di un grande museo con un sacco di informazioni. Sarebbe 10 / 10 vivamente.

A tasteful oasis in Fareham

We had time to kill in Fareham and I fancied a cup of tea and don't like the offerings in high street coffee chains. So we called in to Westbury Manor which was JUST what we needed. A lovely pot of tea in tasteful surroundings. Cakes looked lovely too. Quiet garden where you can sit out (was raining unfortunately) Quick look round the exhibits and shop.

A small local museum

This is a free to enter local museum right in the town centre. Lots of interesting displays across several floors and a small shop.

Also has a very good cafe serving drinks, snacks and lunches.

Recently restored gardens are pretty but not very big.

Excellent for all ages, good tea room

Good local history museum, and it is free! Good tea room that does lunches. helpful staff. Nice but small gardens. Town centre location

What a lovely old building in amongst some rather less lovely more modern town centre developments. We appreciated this quiet and thoughtful place. The cafe was just the right place for a toasted sandwich, looking out onto the garden.

Museum and cafe - both lovely

Visited on a quiet day and was very impressed with the displays and knowledge of the staff in the museum. Everywhere is really clean and well cared for. Lovely friendly cafe with freshly prepared food. Would recommend if you need a light when in Fareham.

Lovely setting. Clean and well kept, but a little light on exhibits. Two costume cases which I enjoyed, but any artifacts on show were crammed into cases at one end of a room. Mainly seemed set up for the dreaded interactive for children route. The stage and pantomime exhibit was interesting and the costumes striking, but there was not enough of it. Lots of empty space in each area.

Great cafe and very nice staff -the shop is good too and there is a useful library/ resource learning centre on the ground floor. You can spend a whole morning here dependant on your level of interest. The prices in the cafe are very reasonable - had a tuna melt toastie and a delicious coffee and slice of cake - it had been a cold day and I was rejuvinated when I left. The exhibits upstairs are fascinating telling the history of the area. Also the history of the house is interesting and well-documented by photos on the stairs and in the library there is folder devoted the building`s past. I found the staff courteous and helpful and was encouraged to complete a visit questionaire. The building is right by the bus station which is handy and right in the centre of the main town shopping zone. It was all a gratifying and unexpected surprise.

What a find on the high street in Fareham, this recently updated museum, has a very welcoming café offering light snacks and drinks. The exhibits are fascinating and give a great insight in to the history of the town and area. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice museum

We were in the area and thought we would pop in. It was very good and gave us an aspect of local history. There were lots of displays which was nice. It's about 40 minutes to look around, but it's very interesting.
