1.Jatashankar (also Jata Shankar) is a natural cave and Hindu shrine
2. They have stone from Ramsetu
3.According to regional tradition, the Jatashankar caves are considered to be sacred due to their identification with the spot where Shiva is said to have concealed himself from the wrath of Bhasmasura.
4.It is also thought to be where Lord Shiva performed his cosmic dance of Tandav.
5.You can only visit here with Gypsy or with personal vechicle. It is ghat area and if you are not expert don’t go by personal vehicle.
6.Network is also not strong, hence download the map before going.
7.Good adventures & religious place with unique beauty.
8.The Shivling is situated in the cave and our feet touch the running water.
9.There are many bathing pools at this place.
10.Jatashankar Temple is believed to be more than 5,000 years old and was built during the Gupta period.
11.The main idol of Lord Shiva inside the temple is made of black marble, giving it a unique and exquisite appearance.

Must visit. And, hire a guide - they charge no more than Rs 100. Completely worth it. Other temples are difficult to reach.

A temple built in the lap of nature. The Shivling is situated in the cave and our feet touch the running water. We visited in the monsoon month so the water was very clean and ample. Only issue is that we have to travel about one kilometer from parking and climb down approx 150 stairs.
A must visit temple to feel the spiritual power of Lord Shiva.

A very good visit. Recommended to take a guide. We had gone in a group, and hired a guide for 100/-. They show you things you couldn't have seen at you own. Place's history, geography was well explained. Totally worth a visit

Every beautiful place. It is down the hills and finally below the caves made out of Water flow and gives shapes of Jatas. It is a like small trekking to get a beautiful view and experience. Shiv ling Puja is done down in the place where you can not stand straight but bow down automatically.

First up - To get down to the Jatashankar Cave, you have to climb first up & then down a lot of stairs. From the parking to the stairs is a fairly long walk too. The elderly may need assistance.
But, once you're here, it's a different experience to wade into cold, gushing water to glimpse at the idol. It's actually quite thrilling even if you're a non-believer. A tiny part of me kept thinking if there could be snakes in the water, I was largely absolutely thrilled to experience this unique temple.
On the way to the main temple, there are numerous other temples & statues. In one of the temples, you can also see a floating stone. Moreover, you're deep in a gorge with prehistoric hills rising on both sides. And the greenery was spellbinding.

Very nice place to visit. Bit difficult for elderlies. Must take a guide to understand the history of this natural shrine of Shiv bhagwan.

Do I need any permit for my own vehicle?
Scritta in data 2 maggio 2024
Hows the weather there in may? Is it right time to go?
Scritta in data 6 maggio 2019
Although the location is cooler due to waterbodies there but traveling etc will be in 35+ degree temperature. Post rains and before onset of summer is preferable period of visit.
Scritta in data 21 maggio 2019
I am going by my own vehicle ? Is there a parking nearby and what is the distance of the stairs from the parking ?
Scritta in data 1 novembre 2018
Yes you can go by your own vehicle as there is enough parking space just outside the temple & the distance of stairs from there is hardly 200 meters.
