My family and I had gone here as something else to do before going to the outdoor mall. It was a nice museum but it was a lot more about the Midwest or just Columbus. There were some cool areas and things to do but it was not what I expected.

We were disappointed when we tried to find information on our Civil War flags. They have a large room dedicated to flags, but very few actually on display. There is a huge chest. Does it hold more? Maybe books or computers with pictures of other flags would be a good idea. We even went upstairs to the research dept. and while friendly, they weren’t able to help in our search. Other displays were interesting, but didn’t seem complete....only a bit here and there of a certain time period. Some displays had the actual items from the time and others would be a facsimiles with no rhyme or reason. The nature center was another example of this confusing arrangement. I think our state could be better represented.

This museum is a must visit if you are in ohio. There is so many fun events throughout the whole year and the exhibits are so neat. Of course the best one is Conway the mastedon skeleton!

I'm temporarily posted to a project in Ohio and I thought I would check out the Ohio History Center for some insights into how Ohio came to be what it is today - but no such luck. What little staff there is, is engaged and enthusiastic, but they don't have direction. The building and its contents are tired and and arranged in the least attractive and least imaginative way possible so I came away with no benefit for my admission fee. Maybe one or two organizing principles would help, particularly if they were explainable as a way to tour the collection.

I like museums, particularly ones that are off the main track, but the OHC is a complete fail.

We've been here so many times. There is something interesting at all times of the year and when you've seen all the exhibits, there are programs to check out throughout the year. We've been to the Dickens Victorian Village, the opening of the village event, the Veterans' event (just this past weekend), and members-only events. We'e been members for the last two years and it is worth every penny for our family. We highly recommend the Ohio History Center if you have a family member that interested in history!

Given how rich and interesting Ohio's history is, I expected a bit more from this museum. The exhibits are generally good, but I didn't think the museum as a whole really conveyed what truly stands out about the state's past and its quite important role in American history.

Would have been a 5 except two things.

The captive food was very good but expensive. $27 for two sodas ($2 each) the daily special, soup salad and cookie.

In the village two thing they said were open were not. There was not a lot of information on the buildings and where they came from.

The inside portion is first class in what it has.

I thought we would just spend an hour at this museum, but it had so much interesting stuff. Especially, we were there during the Sports exhibit. It was interesting to see the emphasis on dealing with adversity and setbacks.

We had a mid-day appointment, so we spent 2.5 hours inside, and then came back and spent 1.5 hours at the Village.

This seems like such an unusual museum, a combination of natural history, archeology, science, culture, and antique collecting. I didn't know there are Indian mounds in the USA. Or that an Ohio producer had built modular metal homes after WW2. We also enjoyed talking to the people who are in character in the Village.

I was surprised though that we didn't see any exhibits about the nearby Amish society (maybe I missed it?). Also, I felt badly that such a scientific museum would skirt the issue of climate change. But of course, I'm from California, so I'm biased. But I highly recommend this museum.

The museum is nicely done with lots of varied areas. The village is typical of what First Person settings are becoming. Too little attendance to support having people in all venues. Those actually there were most delightful.

I visited this museum for the very first time this year and thought that it was full of interesting stuff. I was there for 3 hours and had plenty of time to see everything. They do have a large gift shop and a café to have lunch in. I was worth the trip if you are in Columbus, Ohio and have a few hours to spare.
