We found these gardens very disappointing. The Perennial Circle lacked any color and was very overgrown. The Herb garden had few herbs alive and included lots of lamb's ear. The other gardens seemed more like wild weed gardens.
The walkways were nice and there are some interesting sculptures found in the gardens. There are a few wooded trails next to the gardens that were enjoyable for a walk.
I recommend the Duke Gardens, which are spectacular and the JC Raulston Arboretum, lovely and well maintained.

Nice gardens, some excellent quilts on permanent display in the visitor center; nice gift shop. Would definitely return if back in area. There are bugs so use some spray

This place is smaller than botanical gardens in bigger cities, but I still liked it. It felt cozy! Glad that it’s free. You don’t need more than 30-60 mins here. A lot of cute photo ops and just a chance to get out and get in touch with nature. They had a lot of interesting plants to look at, including carnivorous and poisonous plants!

The gardens are informal and provide a great opportunity to have a nature walk. There are several different areas with different types of plants. Adjoining the gardens are walking trails in the woods.

My wife and I visited the Botanical Garden over the weekend. It was very busy right at noon. The weather was perfect, so that wasn’t a surprise. Many of the blooms hadn’t arrived for the season, so there was a disappointing dearth of flowers for early May. The paths were still beautiful and most of the vegetation was clearly identified by the placards. Occasionally we were left wondering which plant was which. The fact that it was free is a major selling point for me, and I would love to return. We learned a lot, and had a peaceful stroll in the process.

We walked through the gardens - of course, in February nothing blooming 😁, but still a nice walk. We then went on two of the pedestrian paths that circle the property and really enjoyed that as well.

The North Carolina Botanical Gardens is reopened in Chapel Hill. The buildings are closed but the display gardens and the restrooms are open.

Although the gardens are free to visit they do ask for a $5 donation.

At the moment there are various art sculptures within the garden that adds a new dimension to the gardens. The gardens are divided into the Piedmont area; Coastal Plains and the Mountains. There is also an herb garden.

It is a great place to spend some time and take in nature.

The trails are amazing and usually not very crowded at all. They’ve been doing lots of maintenance and there are new benches in the woods for good quiet time
