An absolute gem. The collection, showcasing contemporary works as well as older pieces from the region, is the perfect size and thoughtfully balanced. The galleries are spacious, airy and well-lit, and the sculpture grounds on the outside are full of stunning pieces, beautifully landscaped. There's a little cafe (nothing special, but decent prepared sandwiches, coffee etc.) and a nice gift shop. We visited during COVID summer and they were very thoughtful about timed reservations, with just enough people moving in and out for good distancing, and sanitizers everywhere. The staff were very kind and knowledgeable.
This is a lovely day trip from NYC (about 2 hours drive with regular traffic, more on Hamptons-heavy weekends) and right next to a winery, a farm and some nice sightseeing drives. Highly recommend!

Great little museum with a quality sculpture park.
Interesting exhibits and a very nice architectural design.
They take the pandemic conditions very seriously.
Check it out. Easy except for the traffic.

This is my second time at the museum. They have an excellent permanent collection beautifully curated, I loved the work by Keith Sonnier. Great activity for a rainy day or after a morning at the beach. The store has many cool things.

I had wanted to visit the Parrish Art Museum for some time and when I finally did, it was a great disappointment. There is minimal signage on the road near the entrance and on the grounds itself, immediately giving one the impression that only those “in the know” are welcome here.
With the exception of a helpful and friendly admissions clerk, everyone we encountered was rude, especially the guards. When we reached the end of a corridor and were faced with a set of closed double doors, my husband politely asked the guard if there was something else to see beyond the doors. The guard’s answer: “The door is closed. Don’t you think that if there were something to see it would be open?” I defy any reader to say that this is an appropriate answer.
The galleries are basically white cubes without any seating so that you cannot sit to contemplate and enjoy the art, further giving you the unwelcome vibe. The art on view was contemporary art similar to what you might see in the Chelsea and Tribeca galleries, each museum gallery dedicated to one artist. Pretty much a mixed bag, in my opinion. Nothing from the permanent collection, which is supposed to be exceptional, was on view.
The Hamptons have a reputation for snobbishness and our visit to the Parrish Art Museum certainly confirmed that. If you want to see art on the East End of Long Island, there are much nicer places to go. Don’t waste your money or your time.

As a longtime contemporary art curator visiting the Hamptons this week, I was looking forward to seeing the work of some artist friends of mine at the Parrish. My husband and I arrived at the museum with my small service dog. Instead of being welcomed with a warm greeting I was treated very rudely by the woman at the front desk, who chose to grill me unreasonably about my dog who helps alert me to having seizures. My dog accompanies me everywhere without issue. Yet this woman chose to scold me in a most inappropriate manner. Once we were allowed in I saw the displays… While some were impressive such as the Dennis Oppenheim work in one gallery, I found other rooms so crammed with art that it created an incoherent setting. They do have some quality pieces from their permanent collection on view, but the main solo exhibition was not very engaging in my opinion.

Unusual location outside of the main town. It’s all about art from Long Island and has about 3000 works of art. $12 entry fee. Very well laid out. Not my taste to be honest. Thought the art was average.

Loved everything about this museum. Wearing the headphones to describe the artwork made it more interesting. Even the hubby, who is not an art buff, really enjoyed it!

well maybe when it is really open it would be better. it cost us $8 and it was 1/2 open. and two of the rooms were closed anyway. maybe when they get it going it will be better. seems to focus on artists that donated their work to the museum. cant say I heard of them. they did give us a free pass to come back anytime. we passed it on the hotel staff to give away some day. nice new building but don't waste your time IMO. better use of time to see period museums that are all around the area.

We can all agree the pro’s and con’s of our favorite art museums. None can compare with the open spaces of the Parrish Art Museum. The windswept space and the oft discussed and unique “Hampton” light. The quiet space allows you to truly appreciate the art. You find calm and peace in the middle of the Hamptons.

Visited the new facility shortly after it opened in its new home (November 2012, not April 2013 as shown but tripadvisor doesn't give this option).
Difficult to find, and almost totally impossible to find entry - almost no useful signage at all. There were half a dozen of us wandering around the very unfriendly, uninviting architecture looking for an entry, knocking on windows of the many, many, many staff (does art require so many employees!?) who were pointing to different directions to an entrance never found. Looking through the windows and speaking to several visitors apparently even if you gain entrance the art within was not worth the ordeal. We all miss the previous site in town.
Who paid for this mess? Hope no public funds were used.
