The Kearsarge Indian Museum is a fine museum with lots of artifacts. The main focus is on how Native Americans lived day-to-day lives as opposed to a chornological recitation of history. There are several baskets and animal traps, as well as examples of clothing and shelter.

It is best to take the guided tour which offers rich commentary on the artifacts. Also of interest is an attached nature trail with references to how the plants were used by Indians.

What a fantastic jewel in the woods. The guided tour by Jan was incredibly informative and entertaining. I learned more about Native American culture in an hour and half than my entire life combined.

This is a hidden diamond in New Hampshire. The Medicine Woods intrigued me and brought me to the museum. The museum itself is an historical walk through our native citizens’ cultures across the county. Our tour guide was very informative and fun. We spent two hours there but could have spent longer. Highly recommended!

I've always had wonderful memories of this museum as a kid. Returning as an adult has solidified that this is still one of my favorite museums. There are no crowds like larger museums. You can take your time and appreciate the artifacts and history.

The collections are impressive and unique. Our tour guide, Bob, was very knowledgeable and led us through the history of indigenous tribes. The tour took an hour and a half from start to finish. Well-worth the $12 admission fee.

Really pleased to have gone - far more content than I expected. Ask for a tour - takes about an hour or a little more but then you get more out of it, as others have said. Walked the little trail, very nice. Outdoor tepee was out of season / not maintained. Surprised at the size and diversity of the collection!

A wonderful experience awaits your family when you travel to Warner, NH. The Mt Kearsarge Indian Museum and nearby Nature Discovery Center across the parking lot offer an inexpensive, yet informative visit for adults and children alike. The docents of both these museums are able to impart a tremendous amount of information to captivate and interest their audience during the guided tours. Even the story about the formation of these two wonderful museums will stay with you long after your visit. The entrance fees are nominal....and in these days of high fees everywhere you turn, this is an added refreshing bonus to make the trip worthwhile. Plan on 2 to 3 hours right here to give ample time to take in all that the site has to offer. There's even a short walking trail that the Nature Museum curator, Sandra Martin, will explain the main features to search for.

When travelling - the drive between highlights can be tiresome. BUT HERE - in WARNER, NEW HAMPSHIRE - you have two museums on the same property that are not to be missed. FIRST MUSEUM at 18 Highlawn Road is the Mt Kearsarge Indian Museum. The docents of the guided tour are brilliant and share their unlimited knowledge with guests through - a ten minute film - various displays of authentic Nations life styles - native language is sprinkled in the presentations - and explanations of culture and customs bring reality and meaning to the various displays. Feel free to ask questions of the docents. Plan on an hour and a half to fully immerse yourself and family. The displays of authentic items, to include dolls, toys, and sport equipment, will capture your child's interest to hold their attention. A small gift shop with appropriate literature for purchase, concludes your visit.
THE SEOND MUSEUM at 18 Highlawn Road is the Nature Discovery Center and the author - lecturer - collector of natural history artifacts as comprehensive as any large national museum. Sandra W Martin is the director and has an innate ability to make all of the elements that exist, and are found on our planet, come to life. Displays from dinosaur tracks to coral reef elements are discussed. The minimal donation supports the museum. Lots of hands on activities for your children. A uniquely constructed dark room, that with a black light, will display fluorescent rock elements. The displays of various insects, birds, bats, and other wild creatures is truly amazing. She presents questions and answers - Can you identify poison ivy? Is sand - just sand? Answers are found here. What natural elements can be placed on the skin to stop the itch of poison ivy? For all to see and touch, there are examples of nature here and around the world. Don't forget to walk the nature tails. - also part of the Indian Museum presentation . It is just brilliant that these two unbqiue museums should be on the same property.

On a rainy day, I decided to take two grandchildren to the museum down the road from our vacation house. I had heard about the little museum but was not expecting the wonderful experience and fantastic exhibits. From the friendly, informative staff, the videos, the meticulous, well-explained displays, to the extensive gift store, it was a “must see” museum. A great overview of native peoples from all parts of the continent, and the gift shop had trinkets for children along with beautiful jewelry and artwork for everyone else. I would go there for gift shopping 🛍

We toured the museum with a guide. He met us upon our arrival. Without one it would have been a quick walk through experience. However, we were given such individualized tour that we could have spent several hours learning about the displays.

I don’t know how we lucked out to get a guide. Perhaps it was perfect timing? Other people simply seemed to walk slowly through looking at the displays with out explanations. Those people walked through rather quickly. I felt sorry they didn’t get the wonderful experience that we received.
