Had a day in Santiago and wanted to visit this alpaca farm but did not wish to do it as part of a tour so I emailed to enquire about the visit but did not receive a reply. Tried leaving a message on the website instead and managed to arrange it from there. The owner was kind enough to recommended a reliable driver to take me from Santiago there and back.
It was amazing seeing all the alpaca, especially when they were let out to the lawn and started running around. Maria took the time to explain their work and showed visitors how their garments are produced. Enjoyable afternoon, I spent about 2 hours there, worth a visit if you love alpaca.

Visiting Quintessence Alpacas was the HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP!!
Our wonderful tour guide, Brian from Bodega Wine Tours was able to make our dream of visiting an alpaca farm a reality and we could not have been more pleased. We were able to feed the alpacas, run around with them and even hold babies! We took endless videos and photos and were taught so much about the process of spinning fibers, as well as the care and maintenance of these beautiful animals. They have a lovely gift shop as well.
The family that runs this alpaca farm is so sweet and friendly. Their love for these animals is truly evident in the way they are cared for and treated. Maria and her daughter, Alejandra, are so friendly and knowledgeable. Their passion for what they do is incredible. They made this visit something we will never forget - THANK YOU!
If you love alpacas, go here - you will not be disappointed!!

I used Sergio with Chile car service to drive me to the Alpaca farm which is about an hour and a half from the center fo Santiago and 2 hours from he cruise terminal. The visit far exceeded my expectations. It was informative not only about the alpaca wool but also about the sustainability of alpacas, the unique quality of their wool, the production process and how the owner gives back to the community providing jobs to local people and providing wool and training for women to develop small businesses of their their own. On top of that you get to feed and visit with the alpacas. The animals are loved and cared for without fault but this is not any kind of a zoo. You will not be disappointed and there are some beautiful products in the store to purchase. They take credit cards!

We loved our visit to this alpaca farm! Sean, our guide form Chile Dreams was excellent, the vehicle was safe, clean, and really comfortable for our family of 4, with space to spare.
But Quintessence! I can't say enough...just the story of how they got here is AMAZING! And then there's the family run aspect of it, then they do all of their fiber cleaning, dying, manufacturing there...absolutely astounding. Not only do you get to meet the friendly alpacas (our daughter even got to hold the newest baby!) and feed & pet them (do beware, when their ears go back they might spit!), you also get to see the dying process, the process where the fibers go from dirty fluff to clean yarn and all the machines involved (check when the factory runs if seeing moving parts is important to you, it wasn't moving when we were there, but that also means it was quiet!), then the amazing looms...including a rare jacquard loom that still uses the punch cards and has several thousand needles that have to be threaded & yarns knotted on! Then there's the weaving room where the machines just have 1000 needles each! End your tour in the lovely shop...buy yarn to make your own creations, or their blankets, scarves, hats, gloves, coats, sweaters that they have created right in the factory! (some hand knit items are made by individuals in their homes) They also have a fruit orchard and we were treated to fresh peaches and fresh peach juice that was in season...absolutely delightful! Nice bathrooms, too....and lovely setting.
The owner and her family are absolutely delightful...all the way down to the daughter and granddaughter. The daughter guided us and our guide, Sean, filled us in on all the details of how the farm started on our way to our next stop. We really recommend this trip with a guide, it gives you such a better glimpse into the history of people and the area and lots of fun trivia!

It was very interesting to see these amazing animals. We got to hand feed the Alpacas. We then had a tour of the wool processing. We saw the steps involved with creating the yarn and on to the finished product. Well worth a visit.

Un lindo lugar para conocer, en el recorrido aprendes mucho del cuidado de los animales y la importancia de estos. Además hay una tienda para llevar lindos recuerdos.

My daughter loves alpacas (and llamas) so we drove outside Santiago about 1.5 hours to reach this hidden gem. We were not disappointed! Maria Herlinda, the caretaker, was an attentive guide. She is an astute businesswoman with an amazing story of her own, but suffice to say she runs a tight ship with healthy, mild-mannered animals who were a joy to observe and pet. She also took us through the fiber mill on-site and explained the various steps in turning alpaca hair into skeins of yarn and clothing. The on-site store had an impressive array of fiber goods for sale. English speakers need not worry as Maria spent several years in the states and speaks English very well. We will not soon forget our trip to this special place!

We had a wonderful time today visiting Quintessence Alpacas. We spent a good 1 1/2 hour first getting to know the very friendly but shy alpacas. Then we visited the factory and learned how they make the wool thread from the raw wool. Afterward we went shopping in their lovely gift shop.
Very highly recommended!

Is there an admission fee, if so how much for each adult?
Do we need to make a reservation? My friend and I would like to visit the farm on December 5 if possible.
Thank you

My wife and I used Chile Dream Tours. The private tour started in Santiago and we went directly to see the Alpacas. We then went to Cachagua to see the penguins on an island off of Cachagua. The penguins are visible from the mainland shore with the naked eye. There is a lunch stop at a very good restaurant on the ocean in Zapallar, Chile.
Chile Dream Tours exceeded my expectations. They monitor the the conditions on the route to avoid any problems.
Chile Dream Tours made the reservation at the Apaca farm. I don't know if there is a charge. They are very accommodating and I'm sure they can answer your questions even if you did not want to book a tour thru them..
Hola ! me gustarÃa saber si se puede visitar los fines de semana, cuál es el horario y el valor de la entrada ?
Muchas gracias !

I'm very interested in visiting Quintessence Alpacas, but have only found 1 tour company that goes there. Any recommendations of how to get there from Santiago without renting a car?

We rented a car, so I'm not sure. I will say this place is hard to find so a tour company might be advisable.
