It sounds like you're describing the Manaslu Trek in Nepal, which is indeed one of the best and most popular trekking destinations in the region. The trek takes you through diverse landscapes, picturesque villages, and offers stunning views of the Himalayas, making it a favorite among trekkers.

The highlight of the Manaslu Circuit Trek is the Larke Pass, a challenging but rewarding high-altitude mountain pass. Crossing the Larke Pass is an unforgettable experience, providing trekkers with a sense of accomplishment and awe-inspiring vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The feeling of joy and wonder at such a breathtaking sight is truly priceless, making the trek a treasure for those who undertake it.

Mount Manaslu is one of the eighth highest mountain in the world that lies at 8,163 (26,781 feet) meters above the sea level. It is located in the Mansiri Himal, part of the Himalayan range, in central-west Nepal – Gorkha district, Manang-Gandaki Province, Nepal. The word ‘Manaslu’ is derived from Sanskrit word ‘Manasa’ which means ‘intellect’ or ‘soul’; therefore, it is also called as the ‘mountain of spirits.

マナスルといえば日本人が初登頂をした事で有名だがヒマラヤ山脈の7-8000m級の山の中では取り立てて目立っていないので探すのが大変

This trek is through some amazing and beautiful valleys and geography. The lodges are good and some new since the 2015 earthquake. The bus ride is a bit long and dusty from Kathmandu and some sections are still under construction. Great views, great people!

We had visited Nepal right before the 2015 earthquake and had wanted to return to help in the rebuilding process as well as do another trek.
We signed up for a Habitat for Humanity build and then selected Manaslu Circuit as our trek. When we were there before we had done Annapurna Sanctuary/Basecamp (Crystal Mountain Treks) and thought it was an amazing trip with such beautiful scenery. The basecamp is hard to beat. We had also done the Everest Basecamp trek (itourNepal) up to Tengboche Monastery to get a view of Everest.
The Manaslu Trek was much more difficult than either of those treks and the views were well worth the effort. The trail has some difficult spots and also we had lots of snow going over the pass and down the far side. There was snow and cold weather as we approached the pass. We were there the end of April and into early May. We had built in three layover days. Two were for acclimatization on the way up to the pass and one was an extra day after the pass at Bimthang.
We did a day hike to Ponker Lake in Bimthang. It was a difficult hike up to the lake but the view was well worth all the effort.
The pass was amazing. The whole trip had built up to the day we got up early to go over the pass. We left about 6 am and hit the pass about 11. It is a steady uphill trek. We reached Bimthang about 2 in the afternoon.
We left Bimthang and worked our way back down the trek we began to hit more and more people as well. The last several days of the hike brought us into contact with people doing the Annapurna Circuit and cars!! It was a bit of a shock after so many days in the wonderful isolation of the wilds and mountains.
The Annapurna Circuit has become a bit too crowded for me after they put in roads giving easier access. Sadly this is also beginning to happen to the front end of the Manaslu Circuit.
It will always remain an amazing trek with amazing sites but try to go before the road gets any further into the wilds.
We did not have time to also do Tsum Valley but if you do, add it to your trip.

We had a best trek and enjoyed the time there. We loved it all the geographic draw. A high level fitness required for trek though we hired a professinal guide from the explore manaslu travel company. They are the best and truley a native guide team company for manaslu circuit trek. We specially loved lho village shyala samdo village and larkyla 5160m. Please go trek with alternative path via barpak the manaslu circuit is going to spoiled soon...

This was our third visit to Nepal, this time to trek the Manaslu Circuit. We had heard that this trek is favoured because of the fewer number of trekkers but I never thought to question why and now realise I didn't do enough research. Having already trekked the Annapurna Circuit and Everest Base Camp treks I assumed the Manaslu Cicuit would be easier because of the lower altitude. I laugh now at how wrong I was! The scenery was spectacular (even more spectacular than our previous treks) but the trails were rocky and slippery often with landslides to negotiate our way through. Days 2,3 and 4 were long and tortuous with many steep ups and downs. The tea houses were very basic and toilet facilities often filthy. The worst being at Dharamsala where because there are limited rooms available we had to sleep in a tent at 4,400m. The dining room was the worst we've ever seen in Nepal with a dusty dirt floor littered with stones and rocks. The Larke La pass can be tricky to cross especially if there has been recent snow - recommend crampons!

Manaslu Circuit Trek (Aka Great Tea House Trek Aka one of the best trek in Nepal ) is one of the most challenging and thrilling trek which is located at Gorkha, Nepal and it lies on the Great Himalaya Trail. It's Certainly great alternative option to the Annapurna circuit trek.

Manaslu circuit trek offers a Majestic views of the Great Massive Himalayas including Mt Manaslu, Larke Peak and other peaks over 6500m, It takes around 13 days to complete a circuit via Larke pass (5140m), as you will land on Manang district after the great pass.

Tea house are available on the track every 3 to 4 hours of walk, with kind hospitality, unique culture of the local villagers.
Please do visit Manaslu, Tsum valley and larke pass.
For more information feel free to question me on face book : Lubi grg mdr.

We made Manaslu circuit + Low Tsum Valley. It was difficult because of hight temperature and humidity during first 5 days. Then trekking are 4-10 hours per day. Lodges are very basic. In some places there were no empty rooms so we were forced to go farther, into the next lodging place. For us it was not a problem. Lodge can provide blanket but we had our warm sleeping begs. We took showers all the way except Daramsala . As higher altitude so higher price for shower. Tea also starts from 0,5 USD at the begging and rich 2 USD per cup on high altitude. It was possibility to charge devices till Daramsala. And we paid only twice (2usd). We didn't use purified tablets or catadine filter because water from pipes really safe. Food was very good. Especially apply pie. We ordered spring rolls, rosty, fried momo. Everything was testy. Try tzampa with Apple and Tiberian bread.
We wash out clothes every day but they were wet till next midday.
We spent nearly 200 USD during this days for shower, extra tea, food and hot water. We didn't drink any alcohol.
Highlights of our trekking were Pung Guin Gompa, trekking to Tiberian Border from Samdo, morning in Syala, Larkia Pass before and after.
