wonderful views! great little hike. close to the lovely town of Shelburne Falls. If you are to go, recommended in summer and autumn.

Even in winter, this trail was clearly marked and easy to walk. I had hiking boots and was fine on the main trail, but recommend spikes if you want to hike the branches off of the main trail. The view was storybook winter wonderland, and does not disappoint.

Hike to the peak is quite easy with a spectacular view westward. Mt Greylock can be in view. To make the hike more interesting is to take a different way back to include a rock scramble for a few hundred feet climb. Shorter people may have some difficulty getting over some of the rocks. It is not for everyone.

Apparently if you get up to the nearby fire tower you can see five states, but you can see at least all the way to Mount Greylock once you reach the High Ledges, a great spot to sit, look, eat a picnic. Some reviewers have mentioned poison ivy and it’s true that on the smaller trails you’ll have to be careful of sumac, poison ivy and oak. But the trail to the ledges is wide enough to make avoiding these three-leafed devils easily. A quick sermon: the real devils are ticks, so check yourself after your hike and cover up, spray yourself before. Trust me when I say you want no part of Late Stage Lyme Disease. It cost me several years of hiking.

Recently I came here for a hike. It was great. The hike was easy with excellent views and a lot of wildlife to view.
Saw a bunch of wild life. Came across two bears, birds, and a porcupine. I cam upon the bears suddenly so it was a little nerve wracking.
Awesome time, highly recommend it for an easy hike with a lot of pay off and great wild life.

Passed the parking lot and had to turn around at the dirt road. Wonderful easy walk and beautiful view. Once you see the fireplace, you’re at the ledge with a great view.

I happened to be wearing long capris, socks, and sneakers. There is a lot of poison ivy along the path. The path is groomed well. They take great care of the park. (Conservation land) You park your car at a gate and walk hilly trails. It was a dry day. I can't imagine the trails on a slippery day. If you have bug spray, bring it. I didn't get bitten but I was thinking about it when I was in the woods. You hike to this view point.. and it's worth it. It showed you how the Mowak trail takes you through valleys. This is your camera moment. We had this place to ourselves.

Good views, lovely land..vernal pools etc. Lovely flora and fauna. Quite a few folks there when ever we're gone.Moderately challenging we think.

Visited here on a lovely late October day. The leaves were still lovely and the hike was well marked and a nice mix of shade and sun. The last bit of the hike is fairly steep but not too long and the view is worth the trip! If you want a bit more privacy it is probably worth going early am or non-weekend day.

I have written about the High Ledges before, but it is one of my favorite spots in Western Mass. Apart from the trails and the spectacular view, it is usually never filled with other people. If you go during the week, you might not come across anyone. I try to visit at least once a month.

Myself and my friend are in our mid-60's and interested in hiking through this Sanctuary. However, my friend can only hike on trails that are flat, meaning there can be no rocks, roots or boulders to navigate or hike over. She can hike uphill, it's just that the surface of the path itself needs to be flat. Can you comment on the condition of the trails? Would so appreciate it. We are planning to visit next week. Thank you!
