We had to pass the silos on our journey to wherever.
The background to the silos was explained and how the artist got involved.
The statue of the artist is opposite the silos.
What a gifted man in so many ways. His use of local children as models. The enormity of the project!
I can only say what a genius.
A must see if you're in the area.

This tiny town was apparently invigorated by turning to art - this wonderful monochrome silo of the local children; plus we found mosaics outside the toilets and paintings of the areas history and people by the local schools in the underpass to the dog walking park.
It would appear that this approach has worked because there were 3 cafes open on a Sunday to serve the people who stopped to see the silos.

I mapped a number of Silo Arts to stop, revive & survive a 12000km roadtrip, and came to appreciate the monochrome ones the most.
This was a perfect example of simplicity and beauty.
My hat is off to the talented artist, Guido van Helten

The Coonalpyn Silo Art is a credit to the artist. Using youngsters of the community is a great idea and what better way to engender community pride in themselves than to see larger than life images of them on display like this. Looking at previous photos of the silos that have been submitted I see no need to add any more. This is an attraction residents of Coonalpyn can be extremely proud of.

The silos are in black and white and depict children in thoughtful poses. It’s wondrous to see the detail on a canvas so large . Definitely stop have a look. Use the public restroom ( very clean) and take a walk through the railway underpass

We love seeing the Silo Art in Australia. This one is so lovely and it was great to read the plaque about how they did it all and the inspiration.
There is parking available and a cafe nearby!

This is one of several similar sites in the general area, including the west of Victoria. The idea brought to fruition obviously has been an economic boost to the area as there are now three seemingly prosperous businesses catering to the food needs of tourists, located on the busy highway between Melbourne and Adelaide. But be warned - our experience at the Silo Cafe (Lavazza coffee!) was that if a toilet break is needed, use the clean public facilities in the parking area near the silos (and admire the community-created mural) as there were no facilities available in the cafe.

We have been doing a road trip to see painted silos throughout Victoria (and a couple in SA).
This one is an impressive one.
I really like the black and white tones, although this style is not my wife's favourite as it is a bit harder to see than the coloured ones.
As this is on the main road, there is no excuse to miss it.

Located by the highway with plenty of parking, toilets, cafe and bakery. Impressive silo art worth the stop.
