Such a friendly, homely house! Wonderful welcome. The guides were full of little stories, which made the place come alive! Plenty of Gainsboroughs etc to admire. Napoleon Room was fascinating
Stunning grounds.
Dress warmly...the house is right on the shoreline and the wind whips up the waves and it can be very chilly! House itself warm.
Sheep and highland cattle roam free in parkland, so drive slowly. If you are lucky you might ass the curly haired pigs!
Some B and B available
Definitely worth a visit

I was with my dad when we visited, we drove past the highland coos which was not as scary as it seemed, just need to take it slowly. They’re really mellow and cute!

We parked up, saw some signs about an office we needed to report to and we were a little hungry so we look for the tea house. Following signs round to the back for the ‘office’ we find the door to the place but a lady opens a high window from the house and asks us what we’re doing. We let her know that we’re just looking for the teahouse, and maybe some leaflets about the area. She tells us we look like tourists, presumably because we’re Asian (a small eye roll moment but okay l, whatever, just a small gripe), and this is private land. So we leave and walk around the front area which is also a golf course.

Around the whole place are signs labelling where is private land and where is not. We were simply following signs to the office and not causing any trouble. To be quite honest we were about to leave anyway since we saw the teahouse was closed.

The grounds are beautiful but the whole experience was just ruined a little by that moment. I would check on the website if things are open and what’s happening around there before visiting.

Warning, there are now Highland Coos in the field from the main gates. I think this has been done on purpose to deter visitors, as they now have beware of the Bull sign at this entrance. Highland Coos are known to be placid, however, they are quite intimidating when they come up to you and it therefore doesn’t make this walk as pleasant.
Of course you can still walk from Queensferry to avoid this part of the Estate.

We spent a day in South Queensferry (and one day in Edinburgh as we had visited it before)when our ship docked there. We got off the tender, turned left and walked along the shore through the Dalmeny Estate. The views of the Firth of Firth were great and the woodlands and birds very relaxing. Well worth doing and a cup of coffee in Soyth Queensbury afterwards was perfect

We enjoyed the Shore Walk from South Queensferry to Cramond on the Dalmeny Estate and the views especially of the rail bridge are magnificent.

The first time I visited I took my car down (AFTER ACTUALLY PHONING UP TO SEE IF IT WAS OK TO DO SO!) parked in quite a busy car park and had a nice walk around the grounds.

Second time i did it, I got back to my car to find a sticker on the window threatening to pass my details on to the police if I ever parked there again!?

I was never more than 500 yards from my car but some coward thought a threatening sticker would be the best way to tell me I had made a mistake in parking there.

Pathetic.

I recently moved to Dalmeny Village and thought I would find the beach at Dalmeny House grounds. The grounds are open for walkers and cycling as far as I can see all year round. The house June & July.
I walked about a mile along the main drive towards the house and the beach. I wasn't disappointed and the views at the beach were spectacular.
From here I could have walked along the coast to Cramond or do the same to Queensferry. I chose the latter. A fabulous little walk on good paths or the beach if the tide is low.
Warning the beach by Dalmeny House is beside a golf course.

The property is open to the public only in June and July. It's well worth a visit - a beautiful house and great coastal walks in the grounds. The House is filled with precious pieces of art such as paintings and furniture, and a few curious artifacts (such as the head of a goat that inspired the name for a local Sheep Heid's Inn restaurant). Our guide - Cath - was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the house and its collection. We also had the pleasure to meet Lady of Rosebery. A great day out!

A perfect setting for an international car launch. We drove there from Edinburgh airport, only 40 min away, and spent a couple of hours enjoying visiting the house itself and exploring the grounds which include a golf course uniquely located on the water's edge. Well maintained and worth a visit
