It's a fun place, with nice walking opportunities and lots of shadow. I enjoyed the quiet experience and highly recommend a visit.

This nature center is an oasis in a bleak area full of factories, highways and non-descript hotels. 57 acres alongside the New River; it is intertwined as a freshwater cypress-maple wetland, a pond apple and mangrove community and a laurel oak hammock. There are nature trails and educational aspects like the amphitheater and classrooms. There’s a focus on butterflies with the Monarch Interpretive center and the Pollinator Path. It’s quite the habitat for birds and animals and insects of all kinds. We saw a White Ibis, some land crabs and many, many butterflies. Quite the place.

This was a really neat pace and a fun walk. Enjoyed the nature and reading the educational plaques. Worth visiting. I was visiting from WA State and really enjoyed!

A beautifully calming place to take a walk and share view of nature,especillay with a young naturalist. There are snakes, crabs,butterflies palm trees and mangroves. A small indoor space has fun facts and activities

Although this was a rather short trail it was so enjoyable and a great getaway with the kids. I would recommend this trail to anyone that is looking for peaceful retreat. Everyone was so kind and helpful, will definitely be coming back soon. I have 8 boys and 6 girls and it's a big challenge to have them get along but even they were impressed and stopped fighting and enjoyed the walk. Everything was extremely clean and sanitary; I usually wear a mask in public, but I didn't because it was so sanitary. I don't get much of a break from work, so I really make sure everything we are going to do is fun and this was a blast! My 9-year-old is currently planning when we come back next, oh dear. I hope this review helped anyone considering coming here and would totally recommend, 10/10 for sure!

Nice escape from urban life. Signage could be a little better. All boardwalks look alike. I saw quite a few wild things from little burrowing crabs to a raccoon.

What a gem! A small but cute and well maintained park with boardwalk trail meandering through the park. And no entrance fee.

We didn't find any animals. A few birds flew in to great us. But it wasn't the time of year to see lots of wildlife.
The walking trails and boardwalks are level and easy to traverse. They meander thru the trees and its just a pleasant experience.

Went with a 3 year old. The indoor activity section was subpar. Crayons no paper no attendent. Things like that. Butterfly area was small. Saw 3 butterflys but you can't control nature. Easy walking on level boardwalk. Few trails. So options. One leads to
the river and you can see yachts and they say manatees. None yesterday. An occasional water fountain or drink machine would be nice. I understand the need to keep the environment in tact. Over all well kept. Free entry free parking. Can't go wrong there. Photo ops galore.

We went there about noon and it wasn’t a good time for birding but we still saw about 10 species. We will go back tomorrow in the morning to check it out.
Beautiful hike on boardwalks through the mangroves. There is a map and wildlife checklist in the visitor center.

Hi, Cynthia. Thanks for asking about Broward County Parks' Secret Woods Nature Center. Here are the directions:
From I-95, take State Road 84 (Marina Mile Road), exit #25. Go west approximately one-half mile. The nature center entrance is on the right (north) side.
From I-595, take State Road 84 (Marina Mile Road), exit #9. Go approximately two miles east on State Road 84, over drawbridge. Make designated U-turn after second traffic light (S.W. 26th Terrace). The nature center entrance is on the right (north) side.
The nature center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We hope you enjoy it!

I would agree it's a great place to get away drum the noise of that area, but probably not the quiet you are looking for. We did see a manatee though, which was wonderful.

Yes, but only in season. I was there 2 weeks ago and we didn't see any, they like it when it is cooler and we were there in a warm day. Now is the time of year for them though.
