When you find this place online, it indicated you needed a reservation for a tasting - we did so, there were plenty of times available, even on the Saturday that we went.
This vineyard is very picturesque. The building housing the tasting room is at the top of a hill, easily accessible from the parking lot there. The view from there, over the whole vineyard, is quite pleasant.
Upon arrival, we were offered basically our pick of where to sit. We sat just outside the tasting room, under a pergola at a stone table.
The tasting was done at the bar outside. You bring your card up there, tell them which 1 oz pour you want, they mark the card for you, and return to your table.
We also ordered a charcuterie board.
The wines themselves were generally very good - some better than others, as is normal when tasting wines, and personal preference comes into play. I really enjoyed the "Cougar Bubbly" champagne offering, and for the reds, the Full Monte was fabulous.
The charcuterie board itself was absolutely delicious. Prosciutto, ham, salami, parmigiano, pepper jack, cheddar, toasted bread slices, grapes, local olives, some sort of spicy jelly - all absolutely scrumptious.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely, and highly recommend to others.
The only thing I might suggest is that those pouring rinse the glasses between tastings. They provide free water on the side, so I was able to do that myself, but was surprised they didn't do so at the wine bar.

Love this place just for the view but also because they have a deli that makes very good sandwiches, salads, and pizza. Free pizza on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday if you buy a bottle of wine. We had the cougars roast beek sandwich which was big enough to split. They also serve beer. A souvenir glass and beer for $10.

Located along Temecula’s DePortola wine trail, Cougar is a small, family-owned and run boutique winery that produces some awesome Italian varietals, including a number of estate wines from their vineyards. They grown 95% of their wine grapes and all their wines are produced on-site. The owners have been making wine for 30 years, opening Cougar here in Temecula in 2006.
This review is long overdue! We first stopped in to Cougar awhile back on a weekday for a tasting and a bite to eat. This winery has a relaxed and casual vibe with seating indoors as well as picnic tables and a few comfy adirondack chairs outside. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I love that they have Sangio’s Deli right there to pair your Italian wines with great deli fare – antipasti, hand-tossed pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. Not to be missed is their awesome happy hour (Tues-Thurs 2-4pm) where you get a free pizza with the purchase of 1 bottle red or 2 whites.
We’ve followed up that first visit to Cougar with several more relaxing afternoons there. You just can’t beat a freshly baked Mediterranean veggie pizza and a bottle of Primitivo while enjoying a stunning view of another spectacular Temecula sunset in wine country.
Oh, and they are kid-friendly and they love dogs! They even have a “K-9 wine club”! You get a bandana, discount on merch, a bottle of “Barkbera” wine, treat Tuesdays and monthly Yappy hours!

More intimate winery off the main road. Low key but with a great view from the adirondack chairs we reserved. $22 for a flight of six 1oz glasses of wine. Has a small deli on site for sandwiches and salads as well. A nice change from the more corporate wineries like Callaway.

We visited Cougar Winery as part of a group tour. Friendly staff made you feel comfortable whether you are a connoisseur or novice. Wines were good, as always, some better than others for my taste. We had lunch here as part of our tour. Selection was good and food was very good. I liked the food pairing with the wines. Very nice.

It was our first visit here and we will be back! The Italian style wines are a nice change from the other wine options in Temecula. We enjoyed our tasting out on the patio with the amazing views. A very enjoyable winery!

A large space for a tasting room, with plenty of windows to enjoy the view, or relax outside. The large selection Italian varietal wines are fantastic, and mostly grown on site. There is a Deli.

enjoyed this hillside winery, staff attentive and wine very tasty. We arrived on a very warm morning and the misters kept us cool on the patio. There's a nice deli with the varied food options.
