I stop at Blackjack every time I am in Solvang. I always get treated like royalty by Alison and Asta. The tasting room is small so it feels like sipping wine in my living room. No food is offered but they have a picnic area outside so bring some snacks. The wines are fantastic and reasonably priced. Roger knows how to make tasty wines! I have been a member of the wine club for eight years so I may be biased...

I didn't get the pleasure of visiting the winery in person, but my mom brought me back a bottle of the chardonnay and a bottle of the red table wine. I haven't drank the chardonnay, but the red table wine while tasting ok overall, i should never have trusted. After the cork crumbled and was soggy, Half of it had to be pushed in to the bottle to drink. Then toward the end of the bottle, there were shavings of some sort of dark sediment (not extra cork pieces), which was very startling to almost swallow. Definitely not what I have come top expect from California and especially Solvang.

This is the 3rd time we come to the BlackJack Winery. We keep coming back because the wine is excellent quality. We love all of them, but my preference goes to the Syrah! They have quite a few tables outside where you can have a picnic. We usually brink crackers, “jamon Serrano” olives, cheese, berries and grapes, and chocolates. We spend about 4 hours here just enjoying the view of the vineyards and the company of good friends. It is our favorite place and the best thing is we don’t need a reservation, unlike other places we have tried to visit.

My wife and I stumbled upon this gem of a winery by accident. If the receipt included the server's name, we'd give her a shout-out. She had a bit of up-do with lots of enthusiasm. We enjoyed hearing her detailing of each wine along with the elaborate write-up. As English teachers, we appreciated the write-ups. We look forward to our next visit! One note: make sure the white wines are more chilled.

Had to make the stop as I’m a huge Sideways fan! Server was outstanding as was all the wine we tasted. Couldn’t resist taking a couple of bottles for our flight back to Canada. Fun discussing the ramifications of that movie!

The tasting room is fairly small so it doesn’t take much to feel crowded. No food is offered but they have a picnic area outside so bring some snacks. The wines are fantastic and reasonably priced. I have been a member of the wine club for more than five years so I may be a bit biased...

We have been going to Blackjack for close to 15 years now and have never been disappointed. Winemaker & Proprietor Roger Wisted clearly looks to France for his inspiration. His wines possess all the flavor of California yet more elegance and complexity than is typical for many of this state's wines. Wisted also fashions the finest Bordeaux blends of the Santa Barbara region in addition to top-notch Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.
Allison the tasting room manager is always a delight and so much fun. She sure knows her wines and is a wealth of information when it comes to wines & best wineries in the area. Blackjack is a cut above the rest and should not be missed!

We had 2 tastings for 4 people. We tried many wines. Bought a case of white that was on sale. Beautiful winery. There is a patio/ pergola a ways from the tasting room- wish there was more seating outside as the weather was nice. Some Wrigley seating from the old stadium in the tasting room.

This was the best of the three wineries we stopped at. The wines were good but a bit overpriced. I particularly liked the 100% Cabernet Franc. The staff was very friendly. I would go back.

We drove by this winery for years, mostly because of its association with Sideways. We - very wrongly - assumed that this implied they were riding on the coat tails of fame. A friend told us we had to try it, so being in the area we did. The surprise was that the chardonnays were excellent. Differences among them, but all good. The reds were complex and well balanced. Asta did a wonderful job of explaining the history of the winery, the sourcing of the grapes, the ways they are made, why the specific years differ as they do, etc. Pours were sufficient to appreciate the wines. We left with a case. Everyone else who passed through while we were there also bought wine and seemed very satisfied. They are dog friendly.
