What is a drive through Napa Valley without a wine sample tour? We made sure to not answer that question by stopping in at Harmony Cellars. It is only a few 100 yards off of Highway 1. I was designated driver, so Jan was designated wine taster. The common fee for wine sampling is $30 for 5 generous 1/3 glasses of wine. The host was busy, and he kind of rushed through the motions of providing the samples. For us it was also a formality as this was part of our planned California experience. We had purchased a bottle of wine at the previous sampling so we did not buy any at this stop. There's a nice little souvenir shop and at the rear of the building outdoor, there was seating arranged for a band extravaganza on the Friday night that we were there. We did not stay for that of course , but the host explained that during the summer months they bring in musicians to entertain the guests. Had we had more time to spare, it would have been a consideration to sit and sip wine to the music.

The young man working tonight was rude and abrupt. He let us know 40 minutes or so before closing time that they were closing which we thought was a bit premature. He was not very friendly to the wine club member that was there picking up her wine and buying other items in the shop. Overall, not a great experience. We've been there multiple times and this time was not as pleasant.

This is such a quaint cute winery right by Cambria! Located in the tiny historic town of Harmony (population: 18) , one would never have though of finding a winery here. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their wine. The sitting areas outside have wonderful views of the rolling hills surrounding the winery and views of Morrow Bay in the distance. It was very relaxing to be able to enjoy our wine flights with the breeze and views while basking in the warm sun.

The person that brought us our wine flight gave us permission to fly our drone on the property, as long as we didn’t go near the cows grazing in the adjacent hills, and we caught so many awesome footages of the beautiful landscape surrounding Harmony. He was even helping guide our drone to where we can see the Morrow Bay Rock in the distance. Such wonderful service at this winery that we ended up staying longer and buying a bottle to enjoy there. There were a few other wines that we wanted to try or even buy a glass of, however they had just the ones on the flight available. This surprised me as I’m used to wineries having a larger selection of ‘by the glass’ wines than just what is on the flight. How’s their wine you might ask? They were okay, quite enjoyable but we didn’t LOVE with any of them, but well worth your time to enjoy a glass or flight taking in the beauty that surrounds the winery.

These guys are not dog friendly at all…..even outside and are quite rude about it! We have a small super well behaved ten pound dog. Don’t waste your time here….go to Paso where the wines are better and the customer service much nicer!

We have seen this winery for many years now, but just never have stopped. A friend raves about it so this time we decided we would go and visit.

The setting is beautiful! Quiet and peaceful and serene. We were initially the only ones there - by the time we left there was another table of 2 people and a table of 4 or 5 women. But every one was sitting so far apart it was still quiet.

They have a lovely gift shop too that was fun to go through.

And they were advertising a Sunset Dinner next week that I bet is wonderful in this setting.

The only reasons I only give this an average rating is that it is very impersonal. Because of covid, all the tastings are outside - which is fine. But they then bring you a plastic tray on which sit little plastic sups of the wine flight you are tasting. You then pour the little cups in the wine glass you have been provided.

The server did come by a few times to ask if everything was ok - but we are use to more interactions at a winery - more information about the winery itself - lots more information about the different wines you are trying.

Would I go back? Maybe if I just wanted some kick back time, but the wines were not to our taste. We bought a bottle for the friend who recommended this place but were not interested in buying any wine for ourselves. And there is apparently not the usual lagniappe of getting the price of the tasting removed when you buy wine - you pay for the tasting up front .

Been to Harmony and this tasting room tons of times on our vacations to Morro Bay and Cambria, going back to when the tasting room was downtown before they moved up the hill.
But we skip it now and just buy the wines at the Cookie Crock in Cambria, where they are $5-$10 less, anyway. Not a fan of dogs and not a fan of other people's dogs throwing a major kink in our visits all the time. Same for restaurants that welcome dogs. Businesses need to figure this out. But the proprietors are tone deaf and are dog owners, themselves and thus remain ignorant of all the money I am not spending with them.
Their chardonnays are consistently buttery and excellent, though.

We were leaving Cambria headed home and we decided to once again stop at Harmony on our way out. We decided that it was such a nice day that we would enjoy some of the wines tasting at Harmony Cellars. Great choice. We sat outside in the yard overlooking the valley and thoroughly enjoyed the wines of Harmony Cellars. Stop and enjoy the wines and the views.

We stopped by to see what they had. The lady working was very nice and helpful. They have an excellent selection of wines, and merchandise available. They also will ship!

When we first started buying wine from Harmony Cellars their zinfandel and their chardonnay were expensive for the area but also exceptionally fine wines. But the last time we were there which was in 2018, the wine had dropped in quality and is not longer special.

For the very best zinfandel in the area go to Minassian Young vineyards and for the best value in a zinfandel go to Peachy Canyon winery. For a better chardonnay either Chalone from chalk hill vineyard or La Crema are superior.

This is a short drive from Cambria where we were staying, but it is a nice drive. Once you get off highway 1, the short, curvy road takes you to the winery's tasting room, surrounded by a small garden. There is plenty of free parking. There are a few tables outdoors, in the back of the tasting room, a pleasant way to taste wines. Live size colorful ceramic cows add to the scenery, which the rolling hills and abundant greenery make beautiful. Inside the tasting room, which shares space with the gift shop, there is a long counter, where customers line up to taste the available wines. Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling made up the white flight, along with a rose of Syrah. Among the reds, we tasted a Sangiovese, a Zinfandel, a Merlot, a Malbec, a Petite Sirah and a Cab Sauvignon. A couple of red blends rounded out the flight. All of them were drinkable, but none rose above average. The attendant at the counter did a desultory job and seemed uninterested in our presence and unenthusiastic about their wines.
