Lunch at the food market…at the temple?? How could I resist such an intriguing offer? Joined a group of Yelp friends and had a fantastic lunch full of deliciousness and even entertainment! So many food choices - everything we ate was fantastic! I got so full I’ll definitely have to come back bc there was so much I wanted to try lol.
This is a working Buddhist temple but they welcome all visitors and have a great food market every Sunday. There are quite a few stalls offering anything you could think of pretty much! I tried pork skewers, chicken skewers, egg rolls, mango sticky rice, Ube moon cake, a Thai tea, and took some fried chicken home. Everything was just wonderful!
Prices are excellent - but they trade in tokens lol. What you do is you visit the token booth first and trade your money for their tokens one-for-one. I got $20 worth just for myself and spent all of it - but that included taking tons of chicken home. If you have leftover tokens you can trade them back when you leave. One meat skewer will run you $1, the mango sticky rice was $5, a large box of fried chicken was $8 - portions are generous and it’s a great value for the money.
They had savory pancakes, all sorts of meats, pad Thai, soups and other noodles - lots of sweet cakes and breads - fresh fruit stalls - and lots of other items. There’s lots of seating around the complex - picnic tables with umbrellas for shade. And they have these really cute little covered huts you can sit in too.
There’s a stage in the middle that has ongoing live entertainment and it looked like maybe some karaoke but I’m not sure. Great fun either way! Everyone had a blast.
They have a huge dirt parking lot with plenty of spaces and some portapotties. The parking lot can be a tad bumpy so I recommend to go slow. It’s free to enter and free to park.
Everyone is so friendly and welcoming - I loved it and will definitely be back again! Tysm to Yelpers @JamesL and @NadineC for the invite and for showing us around! A great hidden gem that I suspect won’t stay hidden much longer!

We came here for their Sunday food market and it is honestly one of our new favorite finds. You feel transported back to Thailand and the food is amazing. It's difficult to find boat noodles in OC so we were delighted to get some here..and it was SOOooo good!!!
Come early because if the weather is nice it'll get crowded.
Bring cash and plenty of it. You'll need to exchange them for tokens to purchase the good.
The stir fry stand is always busy and just the wait to order may take you 45mins. That said, the noodles and fried rice is delicious. Just know it may be 1.5 to 2 hours before you get your food for that stall.

I imagine that if you go during a festival it would be interesting. There isn't a temple at this location. There are several beautiful small altars. All information is in Thai. I went on a Saturday around 2pm and didn't see a market but there was an open cafeteria. I don't want to discourage people from going if you are interested in Buddhism, but there's not much to see or learn at present.

I've been to the more famous Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep in Thailand. It's not surprising that the Chino Hills one pales in comparison but it is nicely tucked away from any hustle and bustle despite being right next to the road. They also have a fantastic food market on the weekend with some of the most authentic Thai food that I've had stateside.

Wat Prathat Doi Suthep is a highly revered temple that sits on the top of the mountain overlooking Chiang Mai. A paved road snakes up the hillside to a village with restaurants and souvenir shops. From here there is a choice of a steep climb up steps or the funicular to the wat. This is a busy tourist attraction, but worth a visit.

Et flott sted å bruke noen timer og få innblikk i Thailands kultur. Her kan man rusle å få masse inntrykk. Absolutt severdig.
Go tur.😁🇳🇴
