What a beautiful trail! Other than one spot going downhill for about 15’ in length the trail was nicely plowed and not slippery at all! We even saw a pine Martin! Not difficult at all and just simply stunning!

This is my favourite trail in Algonquin Park. Long enough to be interesting, but not too long to be difficult. You visit a nice lookout (not as nice as the one on Track & Tower, but still nice), a small lake, a few bogs (walking some of the longest boardwalks I’ve been on to get through the largest one) and a valley with a rocky stream deep in the woods. The trail is nice and level and dry for the most part, with only a few rocky or steep areas and stairs.

The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the bugs. More deer flies than I have ever seen in my life! I’m sure this would be a 5/5 in Sept, after all the bugs are gone.

The guide says 3.5hrs, but my dog and I did it in 1hr25min, mainly because we didn’t want to hang around the posts too long…on account of all the deer flies :).

Over two days, this was our favourite hike (of 5). The park brochure indicated the trail was a 5.8 km hike, moderate difficulty, and would take about 3.5 hours - we completed it in 2.5 hours at a fairly leisurely pace. The trail rises fairly slowly over the first kilometer, and then climbs about 60 meters over the next. It then stays fairly flat through nice tree stands for almost a kilometer before dropping 40 meters over a fairly short distance - this is perhaps the most difficult part of the trail, but is quite doable. The final 2.5 km are over fairly flat terrain.

Four of us, two couples, did this trail the last week of January under beautiful blue skies, but pretty fridgid temperatures...-16c. The trail has many ups and downs, traverses hemlock and pine forests, over creeks
and through huge rock outcroppings, that eventully leads to a very impressive lookout. A 5.8 km treck in knee
deep snow that is /was well travelled and packed made for an enjoyable 2.5 to 3 hour outing. Listed as a difficult
Treck, on the Algonquin map, we all agreed that it was less than difficult...for enthusiasts that are in shape. We range in age from 59 to 74. The descent from the lookout has a couple of steeper slopes, but nothing too difficult.
Bring your poles to make the descent of slopes easier and safer and the climbing easier as well.
The path is well marked and should be easy to follow given that the trail is so well used and snow is packed.
We came across fresh Moose tracks, and other smaller wildlife footprints, so be aware that you could luck out and actually see a Moose...not a mouse!
Given the colder temperatures and a mid week outing, we did not encounter anyone else on our treck...the only way to experience natural beauty of Algonquin. You get a sense of just how small we are and a feeling of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
I might suggest that if you would like to try another outing in the same area Hemlock Bluff at 3.5 km is quite doable
In 2 hours and is every bit as pleasing to the eye and ear. Enjoy and bonne route!

This is one of the most beautiful trails to hike on, especially during a sunny fall day, when leaf colors are peaking.
The trail is quite easy, with a short, but not challenging ascent followed by a descent (appropriate foot ware/hiking booths are always recommended). It crosses a variety of different landscapes and it offer a beautiful view of the lake that reflects the sky and leaf colours on a clear sunny day.
During the summer time this trail is infested by mosquitoes, as all other trails. Bug repellent might not be that helpful for many people. If you are planning to hike anytime from end of May till beginning of September, ensure that you also have appropriate clothing (long pants, long sleeves, net hat, etc.).
During early fall you will also find many types of mushrooms on the trail. Occasionally you will find some chipmunks, birds and even a deer crossing your path.

Visited trail in September just as colours were changing, a pretty trail with many small bridges and boardwalks. Along the trail were many beautiful mushrooms. I found this trail more beautiful in the winter but still worth doing during other seasons.

We visited this trail with high hopes after visiting 4 other trails during our stay. This trail was not as lovely as the others. There wasn’t much to look at ; a lot of dead trees along the trail. The bridges and stairs were not well maintained and my 11 year olds foot broke right through a rotting board (she’s a tiny girl). Normally we greatly enjoy the information at each post that coincides with the books; this one was really dull and not really informative.

It’s a lot of steep uphill and then a lot of steep down hill. There are a lot of roots along the path so kids had their heads down most of the hike to avoid tripping as apposed to looking around

This was our second trail back to back.
It rained the night before and about 1/2hr in our bug spray wore off.
We were food so we did not get the full enjoyment of this nature walk.
We enjoyed the lookout more for scenery.
I highly recommend water and bug spray be re-applied to fully enjoy this one.
Best done in the morning before it gets too hot.

Algonquin>Bat Lake Trail hike: 5.78 kms, Ascent 89 m, time spent 1:49 hours (1:45 hours moving, 4 minutes stopped). Unlike other trails like Booth’s Rock that provides a stunning view of the lake from the summit, this trail doesn’t. It does allow to you stand on the boardwalk in the lake to take pictures. The trail itself is decent with moderate ascent that anyone can do. We did come a cross a fallen tree on the trail that is somewhat small to crawl under and bit high to cross over. But we did it anyway.

However, due to high season, and we not carrying repellent, there was too much of mosquitos menace that kept bothering us so much that we were not able to stop and enjoy the beauty of the trail or take pictures or even look at the map to see our whereabouts. The summit had a bench and offered us a distant view of Sasajewun lake, but we could hardly spend time there to enjoy the view due to mosquito menace.

Beautiful frozen waterfall near the beginning and fabulous view along the way. Snow packed trails were easily managed wearing cleats. Seriously considering winter as the best time to enjoy this gorgeous hike!
