This museum is inside Darjeeling Zoo campus. It contains a variety of wildlife preserved for visitors. It is a great repository of flora and fauna of Himalayan region.

Collection of various animals like Bear, Tiger and other skins, skeletons. Museums has been maintained very well and the collection is well displayed with enough information. Entry fees is part of the Zoo ticket. It is present at the back side of the Zoo.

It is a museum housing skeletons of animals and birds. For students of Zoalogy it can be good place to study about various animals.

We spend 2-3 hours in the Museum. The collection and exhibition quality is really of high standard. This is one of the best museum I have seen in India.

This is a must visit place. I got to see a lot of relics of birds ,Reptiles, mammals ,etc. it was all preserved in a beautiful manner. Good place to explore . This place is inside the Zoo and HMI.

This is a very good museum in Pabmaja Naidu Park(Darjeeling).There are many animals,snakes,insects etc.

Seriously this place is for passing time in Darjeeling. A collection of stuffed animals ( may appeal to taxidermists) and flora...the collection is not extensive nor is it exhaustive.

Wonderful presentation of the birds and animals.... so life like and beautiful some of them were.... it was a great way for the kids understand the animal world...

A testament to the indigenous flora and fauna of the region, the Bengal Natural History Museum is a fascinating plethora of more than 4000 specimens being exhibited. Located in the heart of Darjeeling at the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, this museum was originally started as a small building in the Botanical Garden meant to showcase the varieties of butterflies and birds of the hills. Today, one can find preserved remains of the bird species, reptiles, insects, fishes, and mammals displayed in a replication of their natural habitats. An attractive display of the various minerals of the region is present here as well.
There are two sections at the museum, one at the ground level and the other in the basement. This comprehensive collection of animals includes rare specimens such as the Himalayan Brown Wood Owl, Northern spotted owlet, Northern Brown Fish Owl, pelicans, pheasants, Tibetan fox, Tibetan Lynx, Toddy cat, panthers, leopards, tigers, and the Estuarine crocodile, representative of the native wildlife of the Eastern Himalayas. There is also a large collection of birds' nests and eggs. A specialised taxidermy unit is present at the museum to oversee the curing, stuffing and preparation of the birds and animals to be displayed as exhibits.
The insects' exhibit has a wide assortment of butterflies, moths, dragonflies and beetles. The museum also has a small library where one might find many interesting books, including the 125 volume series titled 'The fauna of British India'.

This museum seems very new by appearance. The exhibit tell another story. Half the animals look like they are dead. Every museum I have been to like them to look as you would see them alive. Some of the birds look like a dog just retrieved them and laid them at your feet. The animal taxidermy is horrible. Perhaps they are very old and can't be repaired and they are trying their best. Some are just plain silly looking on how bad they are done. I'm disappointed, I think this museum deserves better, the animal deserve better.
