Busy bazaar for trinkets and more

The noisy Lakkar Bazaar begins from near Christ Church, with a very smelly stretch, because of the horses that are stationed here offering rides to tourists. Beyond that, there is stretch of temporary stalls where all sorts of cheap goods—curios, knitted socks, fast food snacks and so on—are on sale. These are the common items also in the more permanent shops that line the rest of Lakkar Bazaar, though these shops also do sell slightly more upmarket things, including Himachali shawls, hemp bags, etc. If you’re looking for inexpensive shopping, souvenirs and the like, Lakkar Bazaar is worth a try.

Market of wooden handicrafts

Wood in Hindi means Lakkar. Lakkar Bazaar is on left hand side road from The Ridge. Tens of shops selling wooden handicrafts, items, gifts, souvenirs, sticks etc. made from Shisham or Apricot wood. We bought some cutlery sets to be gifted in friends circle. The shops remained open till around 9pm.

I always love to visit the local marketplace especially at hill stations, as it's always a pleasure to see where the local community shops and you get t see small shops with the local specialities. Lakkar bazar is very close to the mall. It's not as crowded as mall road. Try the local food and delicacies. Enjoy the local culture.

Nothing much left in lakkar Bazaar visit only if you have spare time. 9 to 10 shops with almost have same old wooden stuff.

They have high quality wooden goods for very low prices

It is not only a pleasant place to visit, what with scent and sight of thousands of wooden items and all, but it is a great market to come to for wooded goods.
Do inspect the quality before buying, as some items may be slightly damaged.
The only drawback is that it can get very crowded at times, which makes it difficult to reach the shopfronts.

Nice Local Market to Visit

Nice place to see Local Fruit and Vegetable market. Also there are some iconic Sweet Shops .
I loved this market, also you have get some fruits with you, they are delicious.

Local market for wooden items

Lakkar market is at the end of mall road in shimla. One can find small items made of wood, wooden toys and show pieces at a very reasonable price.

Must visit , specially for buying shimla memories !!

small bazar of some really good stuff made of wood. from a small comb till big wood artefacts all are available here. please note they dont bargain and neither do they have proce tahs to their stuff. you need to buy thwm at the price they giving. we bought cute jwellery boxes with very beautt clean wooden carving. its a must watch. the lakkar bazzar is aftee the christ church. a parallel lane goes down and there is the bazar
try to visit before 5 so that you can see the various products and their carvings in the daylight
