Hidden small jain temple

As one of our un-planned stops we were taken here to visit during a loca singing ceremony. Loud slightly confusing and very special! No direct information available and donations asked for but still worth a visit and paintings and sculptures beautiful.

Irritating Guide

This temple does not seem to be a tourist destination but it is worth a look if in the area. It is down a picturesque alley and although plain on the outside it is beautifully decorated inside. As reviewers have already mentioned, beware the chap that latches on to you as soon as you enter. He calls himself a guide, tells you nothing apart from the names of the gods and how beautiful the paintings/glass mosaic is. He then expects a tip. I had no problem with donating to the temple as the upper floor needs some serious restoration but not this so called guide.

One of the best Jain Temples in Delhi. Though the location is quite tacky but once you reach the temple you will be amazed by the marble work of temple. Amazing place to visit.

Small and beautifully decorated!

Located in the alleyways beside the bazaar, the members of the jain sect have been living in this part of Dehli for centuries. Three stories high with intricate mosaics characteristic of the movement entrance is by donation. Beware the steep steps!

寺自体はすばらしいんですけど、ガイドがね。入るにはガイドがつくのだけど、私についた人は自称祭祀。祭祀なら普通白い服着てるんだけど普段着でした。中はすばらしかったですよ。とってもすごい装飾でした。しかし、ゆっくり見れない、ガイドがせかすから。何か聞いてもあまり英語できなくて答えられない。よくわかんないことオウムのように繰り返すだけ。結構いらいらしました。で、最後に
チップよこせと言われた。たいしたことしてないのにチップよこせとは、何事だ、それよりチップほしかったら英語勉強しろ、といってもわからなかったみたいでチップよこせと繰り返すだけ。あげたくない人は何も言わず首をよこにふりましょう。そして立ち去るのがいい。

The most beautiful Jain Temple in Delhi

A place of serene and a peaceful amosphere, it is lavishly decorated with intricate artwork on its pillars, walls and domes.It is situated at one end of a quiet alley off the main lane of the incredibly noisy Kinari Bazaar in Old Delhi, The temple is housed in a triple-storeyed marble building,the priests are dressed in pure white
Ground floor is the museum with all ifo of the Jain culture .
First floor is the pray area,central hall is awsome with mughal era photos,huge chandeliers
At a corner sits the dramatic black image of Lord Parasanath,m on a marble pedestal, with a carved golden canopy.
In the sanctum the statue has a silver crown, a forehead adorned with a diamond tilak and a pure gold necklace. The dome has gold leaves pasted on a base of natural glue extracted from trees. The silver-plated door, opening into the shrine, is sculptured with the icon of Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth.
The 2nd floor is more flamboyant with mosaics of Lord Mahavir.
If you are a believer Jain or other this place is a must must visit and take blssings

HIDDEN GEM! A must-see temple

This is by-far one of the best Jain temples I have been to. It is tucked away deep inside Chandni Chowk so make you ask around or preferably get a guide to explore the market. The intricate carvings on the ceilings and floors are spectacular to say the least. You will leave behind the cacophony of the market to enter a spectacular albeit small temple. Do not miss this temple as it truly represents Indian history and culture.

Read up before you go

The alley that leads to the temple is astonishingly intricate in woodwork design, and each building boasts a different vibrant colour - I haven't seen anything like this is India. It actually reminded me a little of Hoi An in Vietnam. You will need to pay a voluntary (read compulsory) contribution. Also, if you are like me, you will end up paying a second contribution to your guide, who will in around 60 seconds give you a mega-quick tour, where you will learn very little about this very interesting and peaceful religion. Best bet is to read up on Jainism and this temple before you visit so that you can experience its full potential.
