Did a pre-trip private extension here which I booked through Nature Safari India. What a bird paradise! My private guide was knowledgeable & focused on what I wanted to see. Because I like to hike we hired an electric tuk tuk for the main road but walked a lot of the side trails. If you like wildlife, and especially birds/ducks, it don't think you will be disappointed. If this information helps, I stayed at The Bagh which, although it looked a little run down when I arrived, I also grew to like very much.

We spent 3 days at the Sanctuary and saw more than 105 species of birds Resident & Migratory. The weather was pleasant and the viewing was spectacular. This sanctuary with its walking trails around the wetlands is simply beautiful. On the first day itself, we saw 73 species of birds up & close (of the total of 105 plus over the 3 days), thanks to the very knowledgeable and patient Guide Mr Tarun Kumar {(+91) 9460912641}. He was on time each day, planned a new trail each day, he knew exactly where to wait and watch. His understanding of the birds, their habitats and migratory journey is indeed noteworthy. Our e-rickshaw guy Mr Jitu (+917891807029) was also very knowledgeable and enthusiatic in spotting birds and driving us to their locations to spot them in time. We saw Saras cranes and heard their calls and the Pelicans too! In fact on that day, Mr Tarun and Jitu were the first ones in the park to spot the Pelicans! For keen bird watchers and alike, this Sanctuary is a must-do.

This place being birder's paradise is one of my favorite too. The entry rules have changed a little and with 2 or more people in one rickshaw have to take guide compulsorily.
The spotting places keep on changing but we sighted python which was slithering into hole. Before we could even get down and take out cameras it was gone.
We could see owls, storks, ducks, herons, grey hornbill, Eurasian marsh harrier feeding on a coot, pied kingfisher, white breasted kingfisher, jerdons leaf warbler, spotted deer, blue bull, monitor lizard, flapshell turtle, shol fish and many more.

Wonderful tour with lots of migratory birds. Don’t miss the Saurus cranes. Our guide Tarun Singh is one of the best birders we have found anywhere.

The trip started in foggy cold morning with guide Mr Rajvir Singh (8005949042) in e-rickshaw. Next three hours took us in altogether different world, just the birds. His knowledge about the birds was amazing. One could see thousands of birds from Russia, Mangolia, Europe, Egypt, Bangladesh etc, making nests, fishing, sun-basking, feeding younger ones. It was a great pleasure to see young enthusiasts with huge cameras, busy clicking. Season starts from mid-october and ends in mid-March. One could still plan the visit this year.

It was a 4 hour car drive from north Delhi (without any stoppage). Road conditions are overall good because the majority of it is the Yamuna expressway. When you enter Mathura, extremely narrow and congested roads with potholes but fortunately it is a small stretch. Still try to avoid entering the city. The sanctuary entry is open only till 5pm in summer, so if you want to enjoy the sunset, make sure that you enter before 5. We decided to take a rickshaw@₹600. If you really want to view the beautiful birds, then you have to take a guide (@₹1000) so that you can get a close up via telescopic lens and binoculars. Unfortunately there is no facility for hiring binoculars at the sanctuary, so the only alternative is a guide. One can also walk or hire a cycle. Rickshaw tour took us 1.5-2 hours only. Even in peak summer we saw quite a few birds. Evening proved to be a better sighting time for us. This is a lovely, peaceful and beautiful place. We will surely be back in winters to enjoy Bharatpur in its full glory.

A must visit place if are you are around. One can to a day trip from Agra to Bharatpur via road. We visited during November and found it an interesting place to spend some relaxed time.
It is a big sanctuary and one can either take a cycle or hire a rickshaw to cover it. It will take more than 3hrs to cover the entire sanctuary on a rickshaw.

One of the Best Bird Sanctuary in India. You can spot lot of residential and migratory birds. Best time to visit is Dec to Feb. Need full day or two to fully watch Birds. Good if you take guides and binoculars. Rikshaw rides are also interesting. Boating is also available. Early Morning is best time and even sunset is very beautiful.
Overall very Good Experience. Haven for Nature Lovers.

Excellent place to go for Bird Photography, unfortunately, we only were able to spend 90mins there as we were on tour with a group, however during that time the experience was excellent and I will be going back again and spending a lot more time there.
