I love zoos. I make a point to visit one wherever I am around the world. This is by far the worst zoo I've ever visited. It appears to be short on animals, and those that are here don't appear to be well-kept. I saw at least one squirrel openly dying on a wood platform and a reptile of sorts completely dead underwater; seemed to have been dead for some time. I watched a zoo staff member 'give' a bear water by spraying it with water for about 3 minutes, most of which went against the bars that the bear feverishly licked. While viewing the one elephant in the pin, our group was asked to move along because a few people with a camera and a clapperboard said they were filming and needed to film a family walking at the zoo that was waiting at the end of the sidewalk to shoot the scene. I'm guessing they didn't want black folks in their recording. Lastly, I've never visited a zoo where there is an exhibit for chickens-- literal roosters and hens that many keep in their backyards. There was also a section for guinea pigs in case you've not seen those either. In fairness, the zoo does appear to be under reconstruction in many areas due to heavy equipment, open machinery and closed off sections throughout. I do not recommend this zoo and am hopeful that it can eventually earn the 2nd most popular thing to do rating because of it being an exciting place to be rather than having the most reviews.

The flowers are always in bloom and you can feel the laid-back atmosphere of Okinawa, so my family always goes there.
It used to be empty and I was able to relax, but now that the facility is new, it has become crowded. I think there will be an increase in the number of overseas group tourists as it is reasonably priced.
There are also more behavioral exhibits, and you can see animals unique to Okinawa.
I think in a few years I'll be able to watch it more calmly.

I visited for the first time to see the events being held in the park. The park was larger than I expected and it was quite fun to explore. The zoo was small but you could meet a lot of different animals, so I thought it was a good spot for families with small children.

It's good to use it as a standard zoo, but the atmosphere is also nice at night. It might be good to use it as a park for a walk at night.

There are many games with interesting mechanical apparatus and.light activities for family with young children. We find this excellent for us during the rain and windy day there.

入場料が安価で期待していなかったが、行ってびっくり。
まず、駐車場が無料。動物園は、動物を上から横から下からみる工夫がして有り、感心した。真ん中に池があり、その周りを1周して動物園が構成されている。大規模な動物園で、１時間以上はかかる。
更に、ワンダーランドは、子供にとっても大人にとっても、楽しい,新しい発見ができる素晴らしい場所。3階建てで、これも1時間以上かかる。展示物は、おもちゃあり、科学館のような展示有、楽しめた。子供は、帰りたくないと言ってダダをこねる事、間違いなし。

GW、天気があまり良くなかったため今日はプールではなく出かけようとのことで訪れました。
入場料の割にとっても充実していて今まで行ったことのある動物園の中でも動物との距離が近く新鮮でした！
その中でも猿とワニはとても面白かったです。
また、屋台などもたくさんあり軽食も買えます。お弁当持参で来ている方が多かったので地元の方が多いのかもしれません。
3色の綿あめも子供が欲しがって買ってしまいました。
赤ちゃん連れでしたが授乳室、おむつ替えができるところはたくさんあります。
施設に入ってすぐのところにヘリコプターの展示があり乗ることも出来るので子供たちは喜んで乗っていました。
こちらの施設の方の対応ですごく嬉しかったことがあるのですが娘が園内で帽子を落としてしまい探しても見つからず一応落とし物として届け出を出して帰り翌日帽子が見つかったと連絡いただきました。ただ、家に帰る日だったため飛行機の時間等考慮し取りに行くのが難しく着払いでの郵送をお願いしたら快く引き受けてくださり、すぐに送ってくださったようで数日で受け取ることが出来ました。お手紙とシールもつけてくださり、心があたたまりました。
また機会があれば子供たちと行きたいと思います。

I lived on the island for six years and often took my young daughter to this zoo. We loved it! It was unbelievable and a fantastic experience. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes. And since animals are wandering around everywhere (which I loved), I suggest you don't wear nice/fancy shoes (might accidently step in a "gift" an animal left) or wear nice cloths. Their petting zoo is beyond any I've seen in the US. Even as an adult, you will want to pet them. Plus there are boats you can take out. And so forth. Therefore, to enjoy it the most, wear comfortable shoes and clothes (very casual). Bring some sunscreen. Stay hydrated while you are there. It's easy to get caught up in the fun and not realize you haven't drank water for awhile.
You're going to have so much fun! And will take a ton of photos!
Tip to visiting Americans - The zoo uses squat toilets. They may not anymore but I imagine they do. So, don't be surprised.

I didn't really have high expectations when coming to the zoo based on some previous reviews. I live nearby and decided today was the day to visit. Entrance fee was only 500 Yen. The zoo is nicely laid out with gorgeous plants especially at the beginning. As we walked further into the zoo we saw tiny cages where monkeys were in. I felt sorry for them, but based on other new enclosures I really hope that the Spider and Squirrel Monkeys get a new enclosure because the current ones are pathetic. The Japanese Macaques had a really nice enclosure. After getting passed this section the zoo became much nicer. I loved the goat exhibit, neat that he could walk around the roof of the building. I feel the zoo had decent enclosures for the rest of the animals, a lot of the newer cages were very nice, so I hope the other animals get something new. The lake at the bottom is very nice as well, beautifully done. Overall, I felt my money was well spent here, I am hopeful more animals get newer cages but it seems it is heading in the right direction.
