This is an interesting stop on the way down to the Dead Sea. It illustrates some of the challenges in the Middle East and shows a different perspective. The site is the traditional Islamic location of the grave of the Prophet Moses. Of course, in the Jewish tradition Moses never crossed into the land of Israel, but that is not the case in the Muslim tradition. The site is under the auspices of the Palestinian Authority. There is no admission charge, but you will be asked to make a donation. The grave itself is located inside the mosque in the center of the compound. You can see it, but the doors to the small annex in which it is contained were locked when we went. You should take off your shoes as a mark of respect when you enter the mosque. There is no signage in English (or Hebrew) so do your own reading beforehand. I think this is worth a stop, but only if you can explain the relevance to those traveling with you.

מסגד נבי מוסא מציין על פי מסורת האסלאם את מקום קבורתו של משה רבנו. במהלך השנים נבנה במקום מסגד וח'אן והאתר החל לשרת את עולי הרגל הרבים שפקדו את הקבר מדי שנה בשנה. בסביבות המאה ה-13 הסולטן הממלוכי בייברס, בנה חדר ובו ציון קבר, פעולה שבאה לידי ביטוי בכתובת הקדשה באתר המספרת על פועלו. עם הקמת המבנה קבע בייברס, שבעונת אביב, יחגגו המוסלמים את חגיגות נבי מוסא, כנגד חג הפסחא הנוצרי שחל גם הוא בעונה זו. ב-1995 כאשר עבר האתר להנהלת משרד ההקדשים של הרשות הפלסטינית (הווקפ) , החלו מוסלמים רבים להגיע לאתר כדי לחגוג, לרקוד ולהתפלל והמקום הפך למוקד משיכה לביקור ולקבורה סביב דמותו של נבי מוסא. במבנה יש עשרות חדרים בעלי כיפות לבנות וחצר גדולה הפונה למכה.

A khan was built in the 13 century. Ground floor for the camels and horses while second floor for guests and pilgrims.
Not sure if this is the real location of the grave, I think two more are mentioned. The Muazin called for prayers, so atmosphere was enchanting.

Into the beauty of judean dessert.Place thought to be the resting place of Nabi Musa pbuh.Looked after by a small Bedouin family ,occasional tourists drop in,theres a small cemetery near it.The whole area is soooo beautiful and serene.

Nabi Musa is, according to Muslim tradition, the burial site of Moses. Nabi Musa is located on one of the old roads along the Jerusalem and Jordan Valley. The sanctuary welcomes the faithful all year round for pious visits (Ziyārat ), but it is during the annual pilgrimage (mawsim), which takes place in April, that the attendance is the most important. Most pilgrims come from the cities of Jerusalem, Nablus and Hebron, as well as from the surrounding villages. When we arrived it was after 4pm and the different rooms were closed. However, the site is wonderful and the sunset from the on the surrounding walls a pure delight.

This site holds the Shrine of Nabi Musa a.s whose last wish it was to pass away a stones throw away from the Sacred Land (Al-Aqsa). Salahuddin Ayyubi once had a dream where he was shown the location where Musa a.s was buried and thus had a shrine built in honor of Nabi Musa a.s
It's a quiet place, not many people around, but I think this is very reflective on how Musa a.s passed away in the wilderness. Great for contemplation

This is a site where Islamic belief describes as the place where Moses/Musa AS would be found and is thought to be at the very least a place he stayed. The area around it is stunning but remote. The Mosque is pretty humble but the tomb is magnificent. There is certainly an aura. This is also thought to be an important site in terms of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Night Journey.
It was a shame we didn't get to stay longer. This is a place for contemplation and prayer, and as it is quite a way off the beaten path, there was only a couple of stalls here. However the road links are pretty decent to it.

this is not really Moses tomb--really more of a memorial, and it is not a very extensive site. Built originally by Saladin in the time of the Crusades. Still used today as a pilgrimage site.

We were part of a tour group so I can't answer that. I think it was about a 2 hour coach drive approximately.
