We went to Varanasi / Banaras for a week long trip during early March 2020 just before Coronavirus Pandemic erupt in India .
This was truly a memorable trip for us of 2020 !
After seeing the mesmerizing programme of “Subah – e – Banaras” followed by morning sunrise 🌅 at Assi Ghat , we went for a morning boat ride ⛵ ……..
Chet Singh Ghat was one of the best Ghats we viewed on our morning boat journey down the Ganga River .........
Built in the mid-18th Century, it was the site of a fierce battle between the local Maharaja Chait (or Chet) Singh and the troops of the representative of the British East India Company in 1781.
The battle was a result of Chet Singh's refusal to provide Hastings with all the troops he demanded.
Warren Hastings sent his army to Chet Singh’s fort and Chet Singh managed to escape, while Hastings’s army was fighting outside the fort ……… This is all about history !
This Ghat is in front of Chet Singh fort …….. Very imposing architecture 🏰 .
The Ghat is much peaceful than others. All the Ghats of Varanasi on River Ganga have stairs up to the river and this one is also no exception.
Definitely worth a viewing from the boat, and if you can navigate (or arrange) a way to visit by foot would be an OK visit 🤗🤗.
Definitely a worth visiting Ghat on a boat ride ⛵ for its scenic beauty , specially for the photography lovers 📷 🎥 !

ガンジス川に隣接してあるゴート(ヒンドゥー語)です！ここでは毎朝、沐浴が行われたり、洗濯、排便、飲料水など全ての生活がここで行われているそうです。

Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde dieses hübsche palastähnliche Fort durch Chet Singh erbaut. Dieses wurde dann durch die britischen Truppen unter Warren Hastings erobert. Heute bietet es einen wunderbaren Anblick vom Fluss aus. Dieser Abschnitt befindet sich schon fast beim Assi ghat unten und ist nicht so frequentiert, hat auch deshalb einen gewissen Reiz. Dramatisch heruntergekommen und doch majestätisch, einfach in die fotogene Umgebung eingepasst.. einfach wunderbar Varanasi.

this is the riverfront for the chetsingh fort and no guide will take you there as there is nothing to see or do there.. One thing is that it is pretty clean..

My visit here was extremely peaceful. The steps were recently swept, the boats floated nearby, and the old architecture was beautiful. I recommend just walking from ghat to ghat to get a feeling for each one.

Chet Singh fort is not so far from Harishchandra Ghat Varanasi.This is not a popular spot but a big playground is here for local people.And a ghat for this fort which is known as Chet Singh ghat.

We were taking a stroll along the Ganga ghats from Dashawamedh to Assi Ghat. This ghat is somewhere in the middle, perhaps a little closer to Assi. Nice little quiet ghat with relatively clean water. So we took some time out to relax there a bit and enjoyed by dipping our legs in Ganges. Absolutely loved it.

Varanasi has many ghats where people come for many reasons, to sit quietly and meditate, get in or out to boat, pray, bath, wash, walk, ride etc. This ghat is in front of Chet Singh fort. Very imposing architecture. The ghat is much peaceful than others. All the ghats have stairs up to the river and this one is also no exception.

First Maharaj of Banaras was Balwant Singh and his illegitimate son was Chet Singh. Chet Singh became Maharaja by bribing the Nawab of Awadh and secured his legacy over Balwant Singh’s nephew Mahip Narayan Singh. Chet Singh’s legacy followed by political squabbles with Governor General Warren Hastings. In the year of 1781, Warren Hastings sent his army to Chet Singh’s fort and Chet Singh managed to escape, while Hastings’s army was fighting outside the fort. Anyway, this Ghat with a magnificent fort like palace is named after him.
