holy place, where Buddha preached to his first five apprentices
a place to rest a while, to meditate, even as a tourist - to the teaching of Buddha
walk on barefoot, spinning the prayer wheels, and meditate
if you are lucky, you could feel good emotions

Just ahead the adjustent area of The Dhamek stupa ,this temple is situated.
The enternce inside the temple is on fix timing, but you can easily walk-around the temple any time.
In The Buddhism, it has very spiritual value.
Ticket - Not applicable
But if you want to go inside the Zoo Area then you will purchase the ticket per head basis.
The Zoo area is not very wide and few animals and birds cages are there. If you want to relax for meanwhile then this is good choice.
Must Know - Must wear descent clothing, because this is Temple area where prayer is conducting.. Hat / Umbrella proper footwear ,water bottle Must have if you also want to walk inside Zoo area
The main temple and the side area of the temple both close and open on the fix time. A Large size of Golden Buddha statue placed in side the temple. The large bell and other Buddha statues are situated in side compound.
There is a huge bell in the entrance of the vihara. This bronze bell has been gifted by the royal descendants of Japan. There is also a life-size golden statue of Buddha in the sanctum. Other exhibits include the Bodhi tree, whose refreshments were brought from Sri Lanka. This Bodhi tree originated from the root tree under which Buddha sat in Bodh Gaya and attained enlightenment 2500 years ago.

Located 13 km from Varanasi, it is an ancient pilgrimage site that attracts Buddhist devotees from around the world.
This temple is considered the crowning achievement of Anagarika Dharmapala (SriLankan), who founded the Maha Bodhi Society in 1891 with the aim of resurrecting the prominence of Buddhism in India and restoring the ancient Buddhist shrines at Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, and Kushinara.
Bhagwan Buddha journey- Lumbini (birth), Enlightenment( Bodhgaya), Sermon (Sarnath), and Moksha (Kushinagar)
Interesting story: Emperor Ashoka’s daughter, Bhikkhuni Sanghamitta, visited the Bodhi tree at Bodhi Gaya where Buddha achieved enlightenment, and took a branch cutting and planted it at Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. The tree flourished, from which a sapling was taken by Anagarika Dharmapala and planted here in 1931. you can see here Buddha’s first sermon to their first five disciples

During our Varanasi trip, we went for a day trip to Sarnath .
After visiting Horinji temple , our next stop was the Mulagandha Kuti Vihar .
Mulagandha Kuti Vihar monument was built in 1931 with donations from various countries and the international Buddhist community.
There are spires on top of the huge building that make it seem like a church. The Vihara is enshrined with the sacred relics of Sakyamuni Buddha.
It is open from sunrise to sunset and entry is free.
The entire complex is set among beautiful and scenic gardens. 🌳🍃🌿
We Approached the monument via a paved walkway lined with multicolored Buddhist flags, which flap gently in the breeze. ⛩️
Gaze up at the attractive architecture, dominated by towers and intricately carved spires. We also seen the Bodhi tree, which is supposedly a descendant of the tree beneath which Lord Buddha achieved enlightenment.
It was beautiful to watch the groups of monks that sit and meditate on the surrounding green lawns.
At the entrance of the monument there is a huge bronze bell donated by royal family of Japan. There is also a Plum blossom tree inside the garden brought from Japan .
After that we steped inside the monument to discover a superb collection of colorful frescoes depicting the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. 🙏⛩️
These art works were framed by Japanese artist Kosetsu Nosu.
The golden statue of Buddha giving first sermons to 5 disciples is marvellous.
Over-all, the Mulagandha Kuti Vihar has become one of Sarnath’s greatest attractions for tourists.
😍😍😍
This is a MUST vist site in your Sarnath itinerary .
I strongly recommend this place to visit at Sarnath ! 👍👍

Mulgandha kuti Vihar is the most important Buddhist temple in Sanath. It was built in 1931 by Angarika Dharmapala and it is maintained by Mahabodhi Society. The temple has got beautiful murals and frescoes by famous Japanese painter Kosetsu Nosu. The frescoes covered walls in the interior depict beautifully entire life of Buddha. At the entrance there is a huge bronze bell donated by royal family of japan. The golden statue of Buddha giving first sermons to 5 disciples is marvellous. The temple also has a Bodhi tree which has been transplanted from a sapling brought from Sri Lanka. Situated just next to Sarnath excavated site. It's an Entry point for visiting Dhamekh Stupa, Sarnath Zoo and to the holy place where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon to his 5 erstwhile companions who later on became his disciples.
100% Recomendable.
