Scam !! Apparently there is authentic performance and festivals at some point during the year. But on the other days, there is nothing to do / see. It's only a reconstitution of the ancient house for tourist, no explication and no guide so you don't learn anything about the place. All the shops are closed, there is only 5 people trying to sell you some kind of pottery , camel ride for tourists and kids and a few statues that's it. The place is FILLED with trash and rubbish everywhere. It looks abandoned. Do not go you will be disappointed.

Shipgram gives you a glimpse of how the rural areas in different parts of Rajasthan would look like. Though the place would be awesome if you visit there during the festival which happens every year in late December, it is still good to go a place.
It is the best place to buy souvenirs as everything was hand made by the artists there. The place also has singers and dancers who perform the whole day. It is a perfect place to visit on your last day in Udaipur.

The place is beautifully designed , with a amphitheatre . It ha slot of tiny shops where local goods are being sold by artisans. There are many things to do and we spotted two decked up camels too available for camel rides. THere are cultural shows happening in the evening but we didnt stay for those.

September is off season so shilpgram visit is of no use but they have retail out in city at Gulab Bagh. Few zinc and silver items they sales there are really exclusive and worth it to buy. Marble items are also there but too expensive compare to Marble market, Sukher or Hathi Pole Market. Handicraft items are also worth buying. Sarees are there. Show pieces are also there. It's worth visit and we can found many items exclusive whose replica are in local market but it's worth to buy here. Every items they have tax extra @ 5%.
Billing: I purchase items and paid through card and got bill. Whenever I return from tour I found this bill is mere a Challan. When I call them from my home town, they told me it's ok. Later they told me that their billing system was not working on that day so they issue challan and they raised the bill same day evening and sending me on whatsup. I got the bill that is computerised bill on A4 size but without sign and stamp which is invalid.
So be careful about the bill as it seems they are syphoning the GST and cheating customer.
A loss to Indian Govt Tax department.

We visited Shipagram couple of days ago. There's 1hr cultural show performed by Rajastani artists of all age group(Show is held every alternative hour). Thouroghly enjoyed the show. There are many govt appointed traditional crafts and cloth shops in the village, u can shop here for very cheap rate. There was also a family performing puppet show (they perform whenever u go, just pay how much ever u feel like), this wasn't so professional one, still enjoyed the art. U can even buy puppets from them. There are huts everywhere.

During our holidays in Udaipur, We had visited this beautiful model village called Shilpgram and this is a small museum located inside the premises of Shilpgram. The museum showcases the traditional village lifestyle of a joint family and different types of mud huts used as bed room, kitchen, working area and big mud vessels for storing water. There is another big hut which showcases different types of small & big terracotta models of horses, elephants and many more. If you love handicrafts, then this is a must visit attraction.

Shilpgram is pretty far away from anything else in Udaipur, so you might want to ask your rickshaw driver to wait while you check it out. Getting an uber as you leave could have your waiting 30+ minutes.
Make sure you time your visit to see the music and dance performance.

Large place depicting rural habitats of Rajasthan and neighbouring states. Artisans from Rajasthan are contracted by the government to display and sell their wares. Keep an hour or so on hand. Folk artists present cultural programs in the evening.

It is a handicraft and art museum. However, if you visit it during December they have a mela outside Shilpgram which will remind you of your childhood in India. It is also a delight for foreign tourists. Personally, I am not such a big fan and hence the rating.

Go there to encourage the craftsmen for their handmade products . You can take a look or even buy the products to take back home.
Be there to enjoy the song and dance presentation of the rural artists
Visit the place to take a good feel of the village homes and beautifully painted walls
You can easily skip the food though if you have other options
