This stunning Waterfall is set amidst a tropical jungle trail with gurgling streams and springs. About an hour and a half drive from Shillong, (google maps help) you cross beautiful hills & small villages through Pynursla. Byrdaw is set in the Lapalang area, The space has a large parking area but no signs leading you to the waterfall. We found our way to a smaller parking area for bikes and cars, closer to the trail point with the help of friendly locals. A ten minute walk to the falls they said, but plenty of steep stairs that you have to watch out for.
Advised to carry a backpack with water, snacks, a wind sheeter or umbrella & Ofcourse, wear walking shoes!
The view of the gushing waterfall is worth it.
There’s a tiny pathway that leads behind the water fall and another steep stairway down to the main pool where you can sit and relax.
Caution: I’d recommend you to watch out for broken glass if you take off your shoes near the stream water area. Relatively clean, there were still traces of broken beer bottles, plastic cups and plates left post-picnics.
It would be great if dustbins could be put in and around the picnic spots.
P.S: Visitors to please carry your empty snack packets & drink cans or bottles back with you. Nature is beautiful when left as it is.

It is really a stunning falls, this is one of the unique falls that has access to enjoy from different different step and angle. You can enjoy the fall from inside or backside of the fall along with front and upper view then you can go down for swimming or fishing on natural big pond made by the falls. However, you got to prepare yourself for walking about 2 KM to reach this tremendous must go place.

This waterfall is located around 70 Km from Shillong Dawki road under Pomshutia village. It is on the right side of the main road where you will have to take a short distance towards the village interior.
For big vehicles (traveller/bus), I think they will have to park in the village (there is a space for that) while small cars can go further distance towards the waterfall but make note that the last place where you can go by car has limited space (may be max of 10 cars, so plan accordingly.
After this point there is cemented footpath with steps to climb up and down which you will have to trek abit to reach the fall. Preferably good walking shoes as it could be slippery during monsoon.
You will have to cross a small iron cable bridge (While coming back, a little bit on the left side after crossing this bridge - not visible from foot path, a small dam is there where you can play/swim nicely since it is just around 10 feet deep) too to reach the waterfall.
The Beauty about this waterfall is that you can go through it and sit under it relaxing and enjoy seeing up close and personal of this majestic waterfall while it dispenses tons and tons of water every second from above. In monsoon season, it will be more beautiful as the sheet of water flowing is much heavy. If you have an umbrella in hand, it will be handy while you go towards the bottom of it...
You can reach the bottom of the waterfall and get a complete view of it from there.
The place has proper railings but doesn't seems to be lately maintained as the wear and tear are visible everywhere. so watch your steps while you trek towards it BUT it is worth it once you reach. While returning, you can detour from another set of shortcut steps (abit steep but manageable) and you don't need to go through the waterfall again if you don't want to.
There is no place to eat near the falls, so plan to carry your food/water accordingly.
Note to tourists: please appreciate the beauty of nature but don't abuse it by littering or engaged in unhealthy activities.
