An important place to visit for anyone who admires Shree Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Its a small place but holds great importance in the life of Shree Chatrapati Shivaji maharaj.

This place is small but has a lot of historical importance as it is the childhood home of Shivaji Maharaj.

Place is of great hostorical significance... This is the same place where shivaji Maharaj lived in his Childhood. Current premise was built by Municipal Corporation.
Place is well managed and informative too. One can club the visit with Other nearby attractions like Shaniwar Wada , Dagdu seth , Kasba Peth Ganpati or Vishram baug wada.

Besides the historical significance of the place, being the childhood home of Shivaji Maharaj ( rebuilt and not the original), the Mahal looks nice with its red exteriors and architectural style. Its a stone's throw away from Shaniwar Wada. However, it remains closed from 1 to 4 pm and also the access to the uppper floors is blocked. Hence there is very little to see.

The Lal Mahal of Pune is one of the most famous monuments located in Pune, India. In the year 1630 AD, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Father Maharaj Shahaji Bhosale, established the Lal Mahal for his wife Jijabai and son. The Lal Mahal is famous for an encounter between Chatrapati Shivaji maharaj and Shaista Khan where Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj cut off the later's fingers when he was trying to escape from the window of the Lal Mahal.

This is the place where Shivaji Maharaj lived in childhood. However present building is not original Lal Mahal. It has been built by PMC to remember his memories. Small museum and garden nearby. Some renovation is ongoing.

The Mahal is located at walkable distance from shaniwarwada, currently it's under renovation. But once done will require hardly 15 minutes to finish the tour. This is the place where Shri chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj the great Maratha worrier had chopped fingers of shahistekhan - mughal Invader thus an historical place and situated at the same place. That's it not much to write.

The newly constructed Lal Mahal does not have many features the old one possessed and it is not built in the same fashion as well.

This is a place where Shiwaji Maharaj lived in his childhood and later to fight with Aurangazeb,he attacked here when Shahistekhan somehow escaped but lost his fingers.Parents should take children here and explain Shiwaji Maharaj life history.Currently it is under construction.This is red brick mahal.Just near to this is famous Shaniwar wada of Peshwe.Amust historical place to visit
