Bannerghatta national park is a must visit landmark in Bengaluru.Apart from the park, there is a safari & butterfly park too, which is one of its kind.The safari experience is great with a bear enclosure & also white tigers,aprt from other animals.
The park has plenty of reptiles,birds & animals.
Definitely recommended.

A well maintained biological park with trained staff. Like the way the forest department and other organisation follows the ecotourism practices. Glad to see ladies as the baggi drivers

Had higher expectation. Lot of construction work going on inside park leaving lot of dusty tracks and areas vulnerable to safety, especially of kids. I m sure this will b over in due course. Long long queue for tickets n Safari tickets were sold out by 2pm. I strongly recommend to buy tickets online prior to visit.Visited park on a Saturday, found car parking areas to b grossly inadequate (weekend rush mayb). vehicles had to b parked in unkempt areas with dense tall dry bushes, uneven ground.Potential disaster in waiting(reminded me of Banaglore AeroShow Parking fire incident). Govt. Parking charges displayed are Rs.47.20 (whoz got change for 20p or returns 80p. However they actually charged Rs60 (don't kno why, mayb display boards are outdated). Thr was at least 1.5km long queue to get into parking. Food, snacks options are plenty outside and inside the park. Good connectivity thru Public Transport AC/Non AC Buses. Latest charges,Park n Safari timings and online tickets booking available on thr website.

Bannarghata zoo stands as an single point of contact within bangalore to have some attachment with forest eco system. The biological park is well maintained and is cheap and easy to access. There is an lion safari available although it is no where near to mysore zoo or bandipur. The zoo has got basic amenities covered for families although food is not so great. You can bring your own food and have an picnic for a day. Animals available range fr basic herbivores like deer, rhinoceros to advanced carnivores like lion, tiger, chettah. An special addition is the white tiger which is available here. Enjoy with friends and family if you are not looking for great safari. If safari is your primary concern then go for bandipur as it is about 150 kms from bangalore and could be covered in a day if started early.

The Bannerghatta Biological park which is a part of Bannerghatta National Park, near Bengaluru. It was founded in 1970 and declared as a national park in 1974. In 2002 a portion of the park, was declared as a biological reserve, the Bannerghatta Biological Park. The park remains close on Tuesday. On the other days, the zoo remains open from 9:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. while the safari remains open from 10:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
There is also a beautiful bus stand operational since 2011. A number of buses ply from important bus stands of Bengaluru city and thus provides good transportation facilities to the visitors. After reading rather studying the detailed tariff chart, we decided to go for the jeep safari.
There are many safaris like herbivore safari, bear safari, deer safari, lion safari, tiger safari, white tiger safari, butterfly park, butterfly museum, zoo, boating facility etc.
It also houses resort, restaurants, and several refreshment kiosks..
There is also a beautiful bus stand operational since 2011. A number of buses ply from important bus stands of Bengaluru city and thus provides good transportation facilities to the visitors. After reading rather studying the detailed tariff chart, we decided to go for the jeep safari.

For people following directions from Google maps, please select 'Bannerghatta Biological Park' as the destination. Selecting 'Bannerghatta National Park' will lead to a different destination, which is approximately 5-6 km from the zoo/biological park.
This place is approachable by 2 roads: NICE road and Bannerghatta main road. We took the NICE road, which was a bit longer (and a toll of Rs 40, per side) to avoid congestion on the Bannerghatta main road.
This place is generally crowded on weekends. Currently, a lot of changes are being made and looks like the place is getting renovated.
The animals are well-maintained, however, I could not find the serpents section this time (it was there when I last visited in 2014).
The washrooms are small but clean.
For some reason, they had covered the Bengal tiger with green cloth, couldn't catch a glimpse but could hear the roaring only.
Most of the animals were sleeping in the afternoon, I would recommend visiting in the morning.
The butterfly park is must visit, if you are going for the first time!
If you want to avoid the crowd, visit on weekdays. The cost of entry tickets for zoo + safari (non a/c vehicle for approx 20 people), for adults on weekdays (Mon-Fri) is Rs. 260/person, and on weekends (Sat-Sun) is Rs 280. The cost of entry ticket for only zoo was Rs 80/person on all days.
Separate a/c and non a/c vehicles for safari can also be booked at separate costs.

very good place to visit with kids especially in their vacation time...............................kids will love to see and even they can complete their summer special assignments too....they will enjoy watching verieties of birds, monkeys, beer, elephants, wolfs and so many things

This place was billed as a safari to see wild animals by the hotel concierge. Actually, it was a bus ride though a few sections of jungle where you sort of got to see the animals. Not exactly what I was imagining.
If you’ve been on a ride through a park and see animals ride, you’ve probably won’t experience anything new here.
The zoo part was more interesting and there were monkeys running around all over the place.
From center of city it can take 1.5-2 hours to get there, so keep this in mind when deciding to go there.

A must visit in Bangalore! ESP with younger kids. We booked the jeep and the driver was excellent in explaining things to us. The kids enjoyed seeing the lions and bears and tigers roaming in the open. The elephants and crocodiles were a huge attraction. The safari takes 45-55 minutes and it’s well spent. You feel like you are in s jungle and While I can’t compare this to a Ranthambore safari as animals are completely free there. Thus one is better because your kids aren’t disappointed. There’s s butterfly garden near by and a zoo with giraffes and zebras. Really Nice overall. Everyone loved it.

Saw quite a few varieties of butterflies. A few even sat on our fingers. Some good information is available on butterflies here.
