A small museum located in Al Shindagha, an old neighborhood of Dubai. Very small, with not many exhibits. The visit begins with the projection of a short film, from which you learn information about the archaeological site Saruq Al Hadid.
You need about 30 minutes to visit it.

The museum is located in the wonderful Heritage Section of Dubai. However It is not yet fully open. Although the museum says on its website that it is open until 7 PM, it was closed at 4:45 PM on a Tuesday afternoon. The staff was still preparing the museum for its full opening and was not available for visitors. I was also advised by the neighboring hotel that Tuesdays were usually reserved for maintenance of the museum.
Not surprisingly, the museum was also very hard to find. My taxi driver dropped me off a kilometer from the museum’s entrance, saying that only authorized vehicles were permitted to enter the route recommended by Google maps.
No doubt, once the museum is fully open, it will be well worth the visit.

We visited the museum today. On a very hot day the air con was a blessing whilst viewing artefacts. Not a huge museum but interesting and informative, it took us about 45mins. There is a gift shop but we didn't visit.

This is a wonderful little museum. You start out with a fascinating presentation video unlike any other, projected on a large screen and the surrounding walls around you. It explains how the site was found and excavated, and introduces you to some of the things you’ll see. Inside, there are so many unique and mysterious objects.. the snakes are especially symbolic to the culture of people who lived there. After viewing the collection, you’ll enter a kids area with learning tools & activities on touch screens. You’ll then step out to a sand pit where kids can dig up artifacts just like a real archaeological site! I give this museum a 10/10 for it’s presentation, educational tools & fun activities for kids.

It was quite a coincidence that we stumbled on this new museum at the Shindagha area and I was glad I did... and wished more people visited it.
The museum focuses on the recent findings at an archaeological site discovered by the Ruler of Dubai. One thing that made this museum is that it posed questions rather than pretend to know everything... thus, making it a thrilling anticipation as well as a challenge to find out if time can uncover the answers to the mysteries of the Saruq Al Hadid finds... The opening room wrapped around us in 270 degrees as it gave the story behind the discovery of the site. The next room took us to some of the exciting discoveries from the site and what they possibly mean. The next room was where some of the artifacts were displayed... a jawdropping array of jewelry parts, arrowheads, weapons, and remnants of metal and gold work. The language used was friendly and not too academic. The final room was the puzzles and activities, which were geared towards children.
The whole place was bright and well laid out as well. The 3 staff who manned the museum were welcoming. I was not sure though if the experience was guided (I was told at the beginning that it was but other than the preliminary instructions, we had the museum all to ourselves in self discovery)..
The ticket cost us 20AED each... easily worth every dirham spent.

This was a beautiful small museum showing artifacts from a city found in the desert dating back to about 2,000 b.c. It was a little difficult to find, you want to walk towards the canal when leaving the metro and look for the sign. They have nice signs and video presentations telling you how the site was found and what digs they are doing there. The big disappointment was that they don't really know who lived there.
It is small there were only a few rooms but I was all by myself no one else there, a huge contrast to the Dubai Museum which I went to afterwards

Hidden Gem metallurgy archeological museum located in shindagha srea in Dubai. Small tour museum offers to see how in Iron and bronze ages mettalurgy and gold was developed. Quite captivating place with modern edition. Entrance per adult is only 20 AED, very interesting and quite boring place. Museum needs more additional exhibits, needs more story behind of bronze age period.

A well laid out, information packed, calm and studious museum away from the "madding crowd". Dropped in here having already been to Dubai Museum. This was Soo much better. Quiet and dignified with good signage, easy to follow route and helpful staff. Ticket also gives admittance to the new perfume museum around the corner - which was also well worth a visit.

New museum showing artifacts from a recently discovered site inside the desert. Small but tastefully designed and informative. And cheap (20 AED). The two very cool immersive movies at the beginning are already worth the price of admission. The courtyard is beautiful and tranquil, with a large sand pit for kids to try their hands on archeology.

Stopped into the Saruq Al Hadid museum while in Bur Dubai. Admission for 1 adult was 20aed. A bit high considering the size of the museum, but I enjoyed my visit. After 10 minutes of video introduction to the archaeological site, there are a few galleries which contain metal artifacts - arrowheads, jewelry, and the like. I wouldn’t go out of my way to see this, but if you are already in Bur Dubai and especially at the Al Shindaga area, then definitely stop in for a different view of the history in the region.
