As I like the hiking, camping, climbing, so my colleague introduce me to a hiking group, every Saturday they have a activity, this one they usually bring the kids as well, through this group, I know there leader, then we became friends!
Then through him, I know other group, this group called Jianke, they are very professional climbers!
I enjoyed a lot with them, it is the first experience to climb the cliff, we didn’t use the normal way, they brought robs, so it has lots of fun to climb as this way! And I am lucky to know them , so I can enjoy my spare times with the mountains!

This nature park is very close to Beijing and is also known as the Phoenix Mountain in the northwest part of the capital. We came by the time of the peach tree blossom and in March most of the trees we saw was just by the foot of the mountain.
We spend some time relaxing in the mountain coffee shop that we made a stop by and it was just by the entrance of the park. After that we looked for the temple that is famous for having high educated science geek monks from China’s top universities.
Longquan temple is located just by the foot of the mountain and said to be first built in Liao Dynasty (907-1125). The monks here made a cartoon character called Monk Xian’er and made a robot version of him 60 cm high and it has become a star here in China. We found pictures and statues of him around the temple.
After the temple visit it was time for the hike. We did not climb or see nearly as much as we should of the mountain and we probably only climbed a small part of it before we had a picnic and it was time to turn around and go back. But it was a beautiful day outside and I definitely have to go back here to see more.
Right back at the entrance we stopped by to enjoy the beautiful trees in bloom.
How to get here:
Take the subway to Beigongmen on line 4 and then take bus 346 to Fenghuangling the end stop.

Wanted to see Sanya from a high place and was deciding between Lu Hui Tou and Feng Huang Ling. After reading about both places on Chinese websites, decided to go with Feng Huang Ling as the route is easier since we were travelling with elderly and young children. Took cab to the foot of the hill and then took cable car to the peak. Return cable car cost was RMB 80/pax and entrance fee was RMB8 but free for those above 70 (need passport or some form of identification) and young children below 1.2m. These are low-season prices. You can get lower prices if you are able to make payment through online purchase on Chinese websites or have a local friend to help you. Having neither, we bought ours at the entrance of the park.
At the peak, there are 2 walking routes ..one is to see the beautiful bays & Phoenix Island and the other will lead you to a glass chapel (popular for wedding shoot) & a viewing platform with with a short section of see- through glass floor panels. The latter walking route has one to two sections with steps , maybe about 50-70 steps or so.. still manageable for my aged parents in their 70s and there are benches along the way to rest as well. The walking path are made of wooden planks , easy on the foot vs stone path that I had seen in other places.
Recommend to go there around evening when it is not so hot. And if you can time your walking , suggest that you catch the descending cable car around 7pm or so to see the sunset from your cable car. .
Or you can choose to stay till dark to see the city night scene.
Upon reaching the base of the hill, look for the staff in the service room to help book taxi for you to go to your next destination as there will not be taxi coming in during closing time. Not sure if staff could speak English though.
Overall, an enjoyable experience , minus the heat.

This is a must do list if you love to hike! However, this is a bit out of town and will probably take you whole day. This is doable by public transport. You can take bus 346 to the last stop which is 凤凰岭。 You just walk all the way straight and you'll see the entrance. ¥25 for adult. You won't probably get lost as the trail is well marked with sign posts. We spent about 5 hrs in total. It offers amazing esp on the north route but it can be crowded with the locals over the weekend. I'll advise you to go early to beat the crowd. There are water and food stations at the foothill of north route but it's a bit pricey.

If you want to get out of the city hustle and looking for a relaxing time this is a great place. You can hike all the way or take a golf cart 35¥ return. With young children we did not try to hike too much but still enjoyed the scenic environment. The place is well developed and has small tuck shops along the way. The place is also conveniently located, not too far from downtown. We went during a national holiday and did not find much crowd, on the way or at the park. So overall a good place for a day trip while in Beijing.
