It doesn't exist anymore
ott 2011 • Coppie
Don't bother, we walked all the way to the tent twice to try and get tickets. The first time nobody was there and the second time we were told that the show xin chao didn't exist anymore. A real shame we were looking forward to it a lot. Would have been nice if they announced on their website or Facebook page that it wasn't playing anymore, to save us wasting our time!

Fun and entertaining
We saw the circus show here. They had everything from clowns to acrobats, juggling and magic tricks.

It was a fun night, don't expect too much as it's just an average circus. For the 4 bucks we spend we enjoyed ourselves.

Shouldn’t miss it when you were in Ho Chi Minh City.

I haven’t seen a lively action like Xin Chao before it was so amazing. We could learn about Vietnam’s culture throughout exotic acrobatic, lovely dance, traditional culture that attracted and kept us thoroughly enamored with it. We had a great show and amusing moments. We can’t wait to come back again in near future.

Fantastic. Hidden gem.
We would never have seen this without trip advisor. Great show. Costumes and performers brilliant. Tells a story about failed history of Vietnam. Well worth a visit.

Had trouble finding the place
giu 2011
I agree with the positive comments about the show. The performances were very spirited.
Just a word of warning though - the "Xin Chao" show is not widely known locally, so don't assume the taxi driver will know where to go. The street "Pham Ngu Lao" is quite long, and following the shop numbers in logical sequence will not lead you to "No. 2". You need to go to the circus located at "Rạp xiếc Sài Gòn" on google maps. The show is held in a circus tent.

Breathtaking Stunts
mar 2011
I visited not the Xin Chao show but the weekend Circus show that's under the same company, at the same place. We had intended to watch the Xin Chao show but for some reason it was not available that day.

The circus cost only 70,000 VND which is only about 3-4 USD. As I saw alot of parents taking their kids along, I was not expecting what I saw when the circus started. Amazing gymnastics, performances, dances, stunts that were so incredible, and life-risking, that one can't help but feel emotional after watching it. The acts that the young performers put up, the practices they have to endure, the dangers they have to go through, just to earn the few dollars worth.

Do yourself a favour, and skip the touristy places and get yourself a ticket for the circus show (on weekends, 7.30-9.30PM). You won't regret it, and it'll just leave you speechless afterwards

Gargantuesque & sublime
feb 2011

its actually good
dic 2010
actually i think it is interesting they use the men on the high walking sticks to look like the chinese. it is funny and strange.

i went with my boyfriend. it is a entertainment for the evening.

the place is in downtown saigon, near the backpacker area. it is a show with dancers and fighters doing kung fu and also circus tricks. but it is also about the vietnam culture.

i liked the action the best, and when the actors fly in the air.

you don't have to bring anything because it is a show to watch. maybe you can take photo of the actor after if they let you.

Great new show in Saigon
gen 2011
We took a friend's family with young kids to see Xin Chao! - a new live show in Vietnam a couple of blocks past Ben Thanh market. Everyone really enjoyed it. Act I showed the myth of the creation of Vietnam and the 100 tribes, with the blue fairy and the dragon out of the sea. Act II was a martial arts and dance story of the Trung sisters, who raised an army and defeated the Chinese invaders, and act III is modern Vietnam, complete with a motorcycle! Great music and costumes, held in a nice circus tent - it's a fun night out. Amazing value at $10-20 for an hour show, early evening, with 50+ performers.
