Historic venue, all seats seem good for views of the stage. However, very tight seating especially for tall people. Ticketing is a pain - requires a smart phone and app; will not accept screen captures of tickets.

Just saw Pretty Woman and it was excellent- seen several shows at the National- we live across the River in Virginia and it’s an easy Metro ride, just two block walk from Metro Center if you take the G and 13th St exit from the station. As for some of the comments - the theater is historic (opened 1835, current building 1923) so yes the seats are small to us current overstuffed Americans (I’m one and always try for an aisle seat), there is an elevator and some small hidden restrooms on the mezzanine level. As for prices, if you’re from the DMV you’re not shocked to pay $15 for a specialty cocktail. All in all a great, convenient, historic (Todd Lincoln was at the National the night his father was assassinated a few blocks away) to see a show.

The show was great and absolutely funny!! The venue needs updated. Seats are small and uncomfortable, not made for any kind of thick bodies. The snacks & beverages were expensive...$20 for a water, soda and 2 snack size bags of chips. Was easy to get in and out of, just would have enjoyed more if I wasn't so uncomfortable.

The experience has nothing to do with the production. It's more about the venue. First, the venue is old and dated with very uncomfortable seats. If you opt for the box seats, they aren't much better. There seats are crammed and tight, there are very limited bathrooms (especially on the upper floors), and be prepared to spend over $100 if you want a few bottle of waters and snacks. The concessions are a complete joke and way over priced. Come for the show, sneak in your snacks!

Saw Aladdin - MAGNIFICENT! Lucky the show was great, because the theatre is pretty rustic ... maybe even miserable.

It was a soft seat but absolutely smushed side-to-side and front-to-back. Sight lines are difficult in the orchestra section - not enough raking. I decided to slip up and look at the mezzanine and balcony during intermission. Mezzanine - front 5 or 6 rows - should be good, but further back the balcony cuts down hard overhead. The balcony is precipitously slanted, nearly vertiginous. I didn't go in the loges, but I have a feeling there are very few comfortable seats in the house.

Soundwise, I was please that the production was not over mic-ed. However, it was a live band of perhaps ten, and even though the pit was open, there was no aural evidence that the band was in the same room. I have to wonder how it would have sounded without the mics.

So ... if it's a show you really want to see, go. If it's a night out at the theatre you are seeking, there might be other better options in DC. The Kennedy Center springs to mind.

Saw the musical Cats, Broadway tour. Outstanding show! Lighting and acoustics were good.
With regard to the venue, location is about 3 blocks from Federal Triangle or Metro Center stations. Metro Center station is large with2 levels and always crowded, so I prefer smaller quieter Federal Triangle station.

Theater has historic details - but with drawbacks.due to size and layout and management of crowd. They did not open theater doors until half hour before show, so everyone was very tightly crowded into a very small lobby waiting. The ushers were few and slow to check tickets and assist patrons to seats, so expect a long crowded wait to get to your seats even after the theater doors open. Patrons with walkers were especially inconvenienced by the situation.

Our Seats were left orchestra O row aisle and adjacent seats. - Very slight slope to floor so did not have good view over heads, seat depth was very short and width narrow - uncomfortable for a tall or large person. Restrooms were on second floor, about 15 stalls for ladies room — too few for size of theater, however at intermission two attendants helped by directing patrons to available stalls. However if you aren’t in line quickly you will miss the start of show after intermission.

Located in the heart of DC just next door to the famous Willard hotel and the White House one more block over.
We had seats on the mezzanine level and the seating is very uncomfortable with seats being very narrow and no room for your feet, which are jammed right up against the seat in front of you. I was no appreciating airline seats that had more room. Not very handicapped accessible, VERY high prices for drinks or snack. Other than that beautiful theatre .
