Nice old bridge

Historic sandstone bridge, especially nice underneath as the top is a road in heavy use by lunatics so you have to be careful around it. There are nice paths to it up both sides of the creek, they even allow dogs, but if you walk through Glenbrook to get to it, the suburban part is all crazy roads and drivers with minimal footpaths.

Great walk from knapsack reserve around to Elizabeth Lookout- then along a rocky track to Lennox Bridge. The views along the way were beautiful and the bridge is magnificent… green and lush foliage all around and an attractive creek.

Pretty Historic Bridge

As the oldest surviving stone arch bridge in Australia this beautiful bridge is worth a look if you're in the area, especially if you like bridges. Even moreover if you're a history buff or perhaps a student of engineering or somesuch. It was quite green there was well even though the locals say New South Wales has had quite a dry winter this year. There are stairs off to one side leading down allowing you to walk under the bridge and really get a sense for how sturdy this thing is. Even though the stone has been somewhat restored it's still a lovely site, and really of course it had to have a bit of work done to be safe, semis go trundling across it daily after all and they didn't plan for those back in the 1800's. If you're in the Blue Mountains it's worth a quick look.

Built to last

A magnificent stone bridge, built to last - although it has been restored to it's former glory. You can wander across the bridge with parking available close by. We managed to climb down underneath and the kids had fun playing in the small creek which the bridge traverses.

Lennox Bridge just off the Great Western Highway and worth a quick look. Great walks and trail cycling as well. Not your average attraction.

Good for a quick look

Lennox Bridge is just 3 min drive away from Great Western Hwy at Blaxland. Well restored small historical bidge in a quite location. The Road is dual way up to the car park pass the Bridge and then one way to Penrith.
Good to have a look if you got bit of time.

History surrounded by litter, broken glass, and weeds

This "attraction" is surrounded by litter, broken glass, weeds, and the occasional burnt out stolen car. It could be nice if vehicle access was restricted and the area maintained.

A Bridge Not Too Far

On our way to Restaurant Como at the base of the Blue Mountains in Blaxland, we came across Lennox Bridge on Mitchells Pass at Glenbrook, opened in 1833, which believe it or not, is the oldest stone arch bridge on the Australian mainland. This elegant single span stone arch bridge was built in local stone and completed in 1833 by David Lennox using unskilled convict labour and took just on one year to complete. Having worked in the quarry industry some years ago as CEO of the industry body, I was interested in the fact that the sandstone was quarried nearby allowing the bridge to carry all the traffic to western New South Wales until 1926. This was indeed an early engineering masterpiece. The Lennox Bridge was designed by David Lennox and is single arch of 6 metres span and 9 metres above water level, with a road width of 9 metres. Worth a visit.

Well worth a detour or a day out

This oldest stone arch bridge in Australia. Very attractive location surrounded by hiking routes. The bridge itself is worth the trip and there are steps leading down into the gulley so you can get a good look at it from all angles. Make a short detour off of the main road to the Blue Mountains to see the bridge or make a longer trip and try some of the short hikes in the surrounding woodland.
