Great strolling place both at day and night. Various shopping and dining place for activities nearby too. The view is beautiful at night

Our cruise ship was parked here, the proximity to the CBD, was excellent, we just walked off the ship, (we hate tenders, boats or buses), the area is well serve, and very popular.

Queen’s Wharf was very clean, wide and open and is only one street away from Auckland’s CBD – couldn’t have been any closer. So handy to cruise liners. Our cruise liner was berthed at Shed 10 and we had a bird’s eye view of “The Cloud”, the CBD and the glorious harbour.

On my 2nd last day in New Zealand I took an adventurous (and long!) walk from my hotel (Auckland Rose Park) in Parnell into Central Auckland to explore the waterfront precinct and CBD.
I did manage to get a good feel for the city in a short time. I came along Gladstone Rd and hooked onto Quay Street, went past Spark Arena, got myself a steak & Shiraz at Easy Tiger and then crossed the road and explored Queens Wharf. There were a lot of large carrier ships berthed and information boards with historical information including the participation of Māori men in the First World War. The most bizarre monument was a bronze sculpture of Captain Cook surrounded by a neon light installation inside a 1:1 scale 1950s family home on Queens Wharf ferry terminal. This is known as The Lighthouse and while you could not go inside, you can climb steps to the top (it is only a small building of two stories)and take in views out to the Auckland Harbour bridge.
After this a I headed into the centre of the city for a walk. I was keen to check out the famous Skytower but when I got there it was after dark and was closed (such as shame as the night time views would have been epic – appearntly it used to open at night but hasn’t since Covid). I then caught a cab back to the hotel and turned in for the night, my last in New Zealand on this trip taking in the North Island.

Este muelle de hormigón fue acondicionado a principios de la década de 1990 para la realización del mundial de rugby de 2011. En especial, con la construcción de una edificación con capacidad para 6000 personas llamada "la nube" (The Cloud) para alojar eventos masivos.

Queens Wharf is one of many wharves that are located on Auckland's waterfront. There were only 2 main buildings there, one is Shed 10 and the other one is a very unique looking building; a white long waving-shaped structure. From the ferries I can see it clearly. It is "The Cloud", a facility used for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. It's now used as a multi purpose event venue. We went there for a closer look and it was open. There was a big area with only a few people playing badminton at one corner. Otherwise nothing else was going on. Then we went outside on the wharf to enjoy the harbour view. Happy Travelling!

The original wharf was built of wood in 1852 and the current, constructed from concrete in the early 1900's. It was sold by the Auckland Port to the Council and is more a tourist place although work is needed .It does provide good views of the harbor.

Fuimos a Queens Wharf pero más que visitarlo como atracción en sí, aquí fue donde tomamos el ferry hacia Rangitoto.
Hay algunos restaurantes/bares alrededor con diferentes opciones. Ahí comimos nuestra primera comida Maori en un pequeño establecimiento y hay pequeñas tiendas.
Pero no le veo mucho atractivo a visitarlo si no planeas tomar uno de los ferries, hay mejores cosas que ver en la ciudad.
Hay algunos restaurantes/bares alrededor con diferentes opciones. Ahí comimos nuestra primera comida Maori en un pequeño establecimiento y hay pequeñas tiendas.
Pero no le veo mucho atractivo a visitarlo si no planeas tomar uno de los ferries, hay mejores cosas que ver en la ciudad.

What better on a fine sunny day than join in with the Queens birthdat celebrations at The Cloud this year. Old cycles, cars, food stalls, great atmosphere. We enjoyed the time out doing something different. I suggest anyone interested to keep an eye out for regularly different things to do and see there. Paul.

We had a wonderful afternoon and evening soaking up the atmosphere in the sunshine and watching the world go by. We had a sailing trip around the harbour booked at very short notice when we were able to take the helm. Afterwards we strolled around seeing the old fish market before choosing a restaurant for dinner. Clearly preparations for the America's Cup in 2021 in Auckland are well under way as there is an atmosphere of improvements under way. We will go back and visit the museum next time
