Booked tickets for December, it was cancelled for bad weather. Rebooked for February and it was cancelled for bad weather. Emailed customer support to ask for a refund after the second cancellation as we were leaving Sydney the next day and could no longer book. They refused a refund and said we could gift the tickets to a local?!
Their refund policy is awful and it’s terrible that they target tourists with their marketing campaigns when they know they are unlikely to be able to rebook in the event of a cancellation.
If you’re in the same position, keep an eye on the weather in Sydney and use your rebook voucher in the final month to book any random show on a night with bad weather. They don’t cancel for rain but they do cancel when it’s windy. If they cancel a screening in the final month you’ll get a full refund.

Such a great location and lovely to sit and watch a movie in the open air.

Unfortunately the operations behind this business is both poor and highly un-knowledgeable behind the importance of both customer service and the process or rewarding customer loyalty. Even the simplest process of exchanging movie times and tickets was out of their “jurisdiction”. It goes to show how desperate they are in gaining revenue, when in reality they will be making more money if they allowed my partner and myself to attend another movie to purchase food and beverages, contributing to future and better success.

I booked tickets well in advance to take my family to see How To Train Your Dragon 2, spending about $85 USD for 4 people. Two hours before the show, the venue canceled, claiming weather concerns. Curious because the weather looked great. In fact, the forecast for the evening was clear skies and no rain. Later the venue clarified that “wind” was the concern. I don’t recall any wind on the day either. But weather happens, I get it. My main issue is the policy of no refunds for cancellations by the venue. Instead, they offer that you go to another show. But this doesn’t work for visitors, like us, and we lost $85 USD. My advice: buy a ticket at the last minute if you really want to go.

If you don't mind risking seeing a random movie then skip reading this review.
We were really looking forward to seeing How To Train Your Dragon 3 and chose the Moonlight Cinema to see it. Unfortunately due to high winds the screening was cancelled less than 90 minutes before doors were due to open. Fair enough, safety comes first and the weather is beyond anyone's control. However in this case the only option offered is to transfer the tickets to a different showing. That's all well and good if there is something else you're keen to watch, but when you book solely to see a specific film and/or only have limited time visiting the city, you are either forced to pick something else which you aren't bothered about seeing, or pay the $60+ for something you haven't had through no fault of your own.
We wish we'd have just gone to a regular cinema now as at least we would have got to see the film we wanted...

It was SUCH a great night last night! We sat in Gold Grass (highly recommend). The food was delicious, the waiters were attentive and friendly, and everything else was executed perfectly. Honestly if I could rate the night 6 stars I would.
We turned up right at gate opening time which I do recommend so you can relax, get great seats and have a drink.
I've just booked tickets to come back for A Star is Born in March! Can't wait!

Went to watch the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Crimes of Grindelwald
Very scenic venue in the Centennial Park.
Most of spaces were taken up by the "Gold Grass" and sponsor sections, so if you have general admission then you are off to the sides or right at the back, leaving your view less than impressive.
Food is very expensive and the bean bags are overpriced (and still sell out quickly). The email advises you to be there at 7pm, at which point there is a huge queue, which moves very slowly due to very few ticket scanners.
Very easy to get to by public transport and is close to Bondi Junction.
Sound and picture quality were adequate.
Unless you want to pay for Gold Grass, rather go to a regular cinema.

We booked tickets to go and see The Greatest Showman singalong. We were allowed to take our own food and alcohol. There are toilets and food and drink stalls too. You need to take a picnic blanket or chairs because after the sun goes down you can’t see what’s lurking in the grass. We also watched the bats fly above our heads all night - prepare to be potentially pooped on by them!
Really enjoyed the night, there is something special about sitting under the stars and watching a great movie. Only complaint would be the volume, too quiet. Loud enough to hear BUT no one dared actually singalong at any volume as you were quite easily louder than the movie.

A great concept and location totally ruined by the organisation.
The bad:
1) Ticket states entry from 7pm. I arrived at 7pm, the place was already FULL and all beanbags sold out.
2) Found a spot at a 45 degree angle from the screen. The session was obviously oversold.
3) Signs from the sponsors blocking the screen.
4) Everything expensive at the food shops, you are better off bringing your own.
5) Ants, bats and mosquitos.
The good:
1) Weather was pleasant.
Stay away. Use Netflix instead, or just go to a normal cinema. Life is too short to deal with this rubbish.

I really enjoy Moonlight Cinema.
Gold Grass is great as you're on extremely comfy bean bags. Would definitely suggest getting there early (A) for parking if you don't wish to walk far and (B) to get settled with all your snacks and wine.
Depending on what genre film you're into, I think your night will be much better if you choose this wisely. We really enjoy a good action film - kind of adds to the fun of being outside in the park!
Would highly recommend as a date night idea, even during the week.
Centennial Park is beautiful anyway, so why not eat cheese, drink wine and watch a film there after sunset? It's not the cheapest option but the spend is definitely worth it.
