Never found such expensive place with hardly anything to see or mostly boring. Most of the population is elderly and that reflects in the style of this area. Have seen a few specialists and they were most entitled and overly expensive. Southern Highlands terrible value for money. Cold climate and just not a vibrant but gloomy area. Not worth spending your money and time

The weather was chilly, but fortunately there was no wind. We found that the Information Centre in Mittagong didn't have very much to offer on the area.
We went Monday to Thursday morning, and many restaurants are only open later in the week.
Our accommodation was at the Bakehouse Motel Berrima, and we were upgraded to the fabulous Rosier 2 cottage.
It was a nice short break.
Did the local Op Shops - in Bowral half were well priced and the other half were way over the top in pricing - they need to get real.

I booked accomodation at Casa Sul Lago, Alpine NSW. This is situated a mere 1hr 1/2 from the Sydney CBD, Casa Sul Lago is a pleasant freeway drive for city folk looking to swap their concrete jungle for a luxury rural escape. You'd be amazed at how much the landscape changes in such a short drive, as you approach the well known Southern Highlands of NSW, a region renowned for its boutique vineyards and manicured gardens.
And thats the best way to describe this luxury retreat, manicured, epicurial, and curated to ones every need. The luxury villa is set upon 25 acres of secured and manicured gardens, with your closest neighbours being the resident horses that graze in their own paddocks.
The villa itself sits directly alongside its own lake-like waterbed, which invites a refreshing array of bird life to entertain while relaxing on the balcony. Within the villa you will find every need curated to, with a fully equipped kitchen, reverse-cycle airconditioning, gas fireplace, large TV's in every room, WiFi, automated blinds, and even automated toilets. The professional hosts are to be commended for their thought full inclusions in the villa.
Bowral village is just a short drive away, however, to be honest there's no need to leave the property, assuming you have enough supplies. There's nothing more beautiful to see in Bowral than what you have on your own doorstep in this property, at least that was our experience.
We will be staying here again in times to come.
More images are available on my channel, thank you.

The Southern Highlands is a region south of Sydney full of wonderful surprises, little towns, villages, farms, parks, and coastal beauty. Travel inland and the traveler will pass vineyards, quaint homes, and lovely trees. Make it a day trip or in our case we did a five day road trip. We could have stayed longer. This is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city scene.

We love the Sothern Highlands. An hour and a half out of Sydney and you are in picturesque highlands. From good food to wineries.. theres plenty for everyone. A great week-end away or just a days outing.

Went on a summer holiday to check out waterfalls, Bush land walks and wine and food. Stayed at a great b & b. Unfortunately the weather was far too hot to do any bush activities so we could only do wine and food activities. Very hard to talk. Some great cafes, cellar door experiences and restaurants helped to make a lovely weekend. Hoping to have a cooler weather trip back in the future.

We had a day driving through the Southern Highlands of Australia. It was so beautiful. The landscape & scenery are big and sweeping.
Get a car and drive and explore. Get as high as you can and be prepared to pull over and take it all in.
If you can do a picnic somewhere that would be great.
It's pretty amazing.

Went to the southern highlands with 3 girlfriends, and stayed in the tiny little town of Wingello. We went wine tasting and explored other towns in the area. A beautiful part of NSW, and a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Sydney.

Wow plenty of places to explore for all the family, gardens with a WOW even the teen's loved this, Bradman's the pools, quaint little shopping through out the whole Highlands. A great place to eat and explore local produce, cooking and tasting. Always something on during the week or weekend. Close by train service to get you around if no transport. Will be back again.

I had read quite a few tourist sites that said how lovely and quaint the little towns through the southern highlands were but unfortunately I was a little disappointed as I drove from Sydney to Canberra. We stopped at Mittagong, Berrima, Bowral and Goulburn.
Berrima did have some lovely old buildings and a few shops but not a lot. Bowral had some nice houses and gardens and lots of coffee shops. We visited the Don Bradman museum which was interesting but expensive at $20 per person, but I assume they are self funded.
Maybe I just stopped at the wrong towns.
