Terrible. They take you to Isla Mujeres to buy Tequila. Then eat Paya Tiburon a place with a dirty jetty, dirty hammocks and lousy food. Don't spend the money with them and look for something else

We arrived at the Juarez Dock and were approached by a vender. We wanted to snorkel around Isla Mujeres. He took us to a shack where we paid $70 for two people for a boat trip to the island, a guided snorkel trip to three areas, "all you can eat" lunch, and the trip back. The small boat was packed, with every life jacket in use, and there was a real need for them. The driver took us on a thrill ride. We were still in our street clothes, and no one warned us that we'd be drenched upon arrival at Isla Mujeres. The captain took us on a very high speed ride in rough seas. It was truly frightening. I was thrown from my seat at one point. There were small children on board and I was terrified that one of them would be thrown overboard. The captain wanted to visit the first snorkel location immediately but we protested that we hadn't had the opportunity to put on our swimsuits so he took everyone to the main tourist strip and docked there. He was unpleasant and he made us feel as though we had inconvenienced him. He showed us to a bathroom which we where charged to use. He told us to return in one and a half hours and we would snorkel at that time. After much discussion, we decided that the captain had not demonstrated the kind of behavior that we thought someone in charge of so many lives should have and we elected not to continue. We didn't attempt to collect our money back. I figured that would be fruitless. I have been on similar trips in Tulum and Cozumel, but never did I feel frightened. This trip was a different story. Don't waste your money. We took the ferry back to the Cancún dock and it cost us $5 each.

On every visit to Mexico, I try to get a day of flyfishing. I made arrangements with my guide Uriel over the phone and he agreed to pick me up at the Cancun bus terminal at 6:00 AM.
After leaving Puerto Morelos at 5:30, Uriel was waiting at the terminal and we proceeded towards Isla Blanca through Cancun towards Puerto Juarez. This area is definitely targeted for development as we traveled on a four lane highway for at least 5 km without a resort in sight.. 20 minutes later we got to a small restaurant where the boat was moored.
We started on the lagoon before 7:00 and headed south/east to a large mangrove as it was very windy. Once in the mangrove we were protected from the wind and we could see baby tarpons rolling. Uriel knew what he was doing and brought me where the fish were and soon I had hooked into a tarpon. This was the first of many. While fishing you often had crocodiles in sight, floating nearby...which made for an interesting situation! Birds were plentiful, so were the fish. After a few hours in that area, we moved to the northern tip of isla Blanca for more fishing in a very different mangrove: it was much younger and shallower. We sight fish for snook, snapper and tarpon. I caught a few snappers and the tarpons shied away from the flies. Overall it was a fantastic day of fishing and discovery,
The water was too cold for permits and bonefish, and the flats were vey windy.
Uriel spoke good English, was very friendly and knew his mangrove well. I felt very comfortable and safe with him especially after he refused to go up a channel saying that there were too many crocodiles in the area....Uriel drove me back to Cancun to the bus terminal so that i could take the collectivo back to PoMo.
