We arrived at 2:50pm, hungry, after several hours of driving. We ran to the restaurant/pub which closed at 3.00pm because there was a wedding and they closed an hour early. They closed strictly at 3pm and apart from a few biscuits, there was nothing to eat. Otherwise, it is a beautiful site with actors in period costumes.
Suggestions to visitors: do not arrive here hungry.
Suggestions to management: charging 56$/2 people 2 hours before closing is too much. In retrospect we would have continued our journey.
Another suggestion: always have at least one bowl of soup to sell to your customers until closing time. It doesn't really take staff...

This was so much fun! Great throw back in time and seeing how they lived on this island. Everyone that works here is so helpful and kind. The sawmill stories were so fun to listen to. We found the houses just beautiful. A definite stop. Make sure you eat lunch here too!

Amazing experience for the family and anyone interested in the history and past life of 17 & 18C Canada. All the villagers look like they really live there. Surprisingly, they still print using a very historical machine for the use.

It is a living history museum with 19th century buildings, costumed actors, numerous objects and workshops. It is an experience that I recommend to everyone. This site has nothing to envy of other historic villages of this type.
The places are very well maintained and valued: we are literally immersed in the middle of the 19th century. There are magnificent landscapes, a cultural wealth to be preserved, a unique atmosphere.
You should allow 2 to 3 hours to simply go around the village and enter the buildings - walking in good weather.
There is also a shop on site, a small restaurant, in short, it was a pleasant moment.

The terrain is very large, wear good shoes! Fortunately, there are cart/trolley shuttles!
The landscape is magnificent and a beautiful village has been recreated with almost all these inhabitants!
Lots of characters in outfits that explain their daily lives. Few speak French but are happy to try… they all took the time to listen and respond to my teenagers who were testing their English!
Very nice day!

Very glad that I stopped here with my family as we traveled back home to Ontario. As this was my first visit I cannot speak about how it was in the past. What I can say is that it is comparable to Upper Canada Village, which I have visited several times, with the difference that Kings Landing is less crowded, thus allowing you to spend more time speaking with the historical re-enactors.
Among our fun experiences at Kings Landing: My family saw a temperance protest against alcohol, while I had a beer brewed with a 1850s recipe at The Kings Head; my kids went on a wagon ride; I had a fascinating chat with the head of the general store about how goods where transported 150 years ago: and I chatted with a 19th century family as they finished eating lunch inside their home.
Speaking of food my family enjoyed our lunch that we ordered at The Kings Head.
The next time we are in New Brunswick we will certainly return here. This site is quite large, as our 3 hour stop was not enough to see everything.

After reading the review that said Kings Landing wasn't what it had previously been, we almost didn't visit. If we hadn't, we would have missed a very enjoyable day. There was a wonderful variety of buildings to visit, and the reenactors at each site knew their subjects and interacted well with visitors. The day we were at Kings Landing was very hot, and the carriage ride back to the visitors center was very welcome. If I am ever in the area, I will definitely visit Kings Landing again.

We used to love Kings' Landing but, unfortunately, I have to agree with others; it is going downhill fast. The staff are still as lovely and personable as ever, but the dining experience has definitely lost its charm. On weekdays, at least, patrons are no longer seated in the small, intimate rooms of the King's Head Inn, but in a larger hall that is more like a refectory. The menu has changed as well, and not for the better! Basics, such as fish and chips, used to be offered and were excellent, but for some reason now the "chips" (British for "French fries") have been replaced with potato chips! Really! What is the current chef thinking!? Last time we went, a couple of weeks ago, it was still advertised as "Fish and Chips," but we were told we could have any potato but. The meal has now been renamed, but still, really, if you want to be authentic to the time period, you should at least call it "Fish and Crisps," which I doubt has ever been offered to anyone else associated with the British Empire (and consider Kings' Landing's historical provenance) ever!!! The lovely salads, such as the "Jocelyn," have also disappeared and the menu in general is a pale imitation of what it was last year and in previous years. We bought a season pass this year so that we could walk around and drop in for lunch, but we think we have gone for the last time. This won't even make our season pass worthwhile. What a shame, as it was one of our go-to places! We are outsiders, but have lived in Fredericton for 33 years, have been regular and enthusiastic patrons, and have seen many changes - the most recent, in terms of the dining experience, are definitely not for the better. Today, for example, when we went, we and a number of others, were waiting until 2 p.m. to be seated for lunch as the restaurant was catering to a coach party. That's fine, but what an opportunity to open the rest of the King's Head Inn! In addition, the portions seem meagre and before anyone in management tries to defend this obvious economy in their mind with the thought that we are large eaters, we are not; my wife eats like a bird, never half finishing a meal out, and we are both more than slim. If the management would like to get in contact with us, we would be pleased to give our input to them privately as we would like this enterprise to thrive and certainly wish we could have given a more positive review.

Can cars go between sites for those with walking challenges?
Scritta in data 2 maggio 2019
Hi ginny224, We don't allow vehicles on site, but we do have free horse & wagon rides that travel throughout the site. Most of the site is accessible to wheelchairs and electric scooters, and we have electric scooter rentals available on a first come, first served basis.

Bonjour, la boutique, le pique-nique et les WC sont ils à l'extérieur ? ou faut il payer l'entrée pour avoir accès à tout cela ? Merci pour votre réponse !
Scritta in data 20 febbraio 2017

I would very much like to know the history on the Perley house. I would like to know which Perley's lived in it and where it was located. Thank you very much. Carole Dick

Frederick Perley built the house in 1866 in Queensbury on land he inherited from his father, David Perley. It was land they farmed and ran a tavern on. The land was originally bought by Davids father Oliver Perley.

is this attraction fully staffed through September?
Scritta in data 8 agosto 2016
I would say that Kings Landing will be fully staffed until closing in the fall. As the weather gets a little cooler, you may enjoy the walk around much better. The wagon ride back is very enjoyable!

No. They will not let the dog through admissions. They are quite strict on this rule. See my review.
