If I could rate this place 10 Stars, I would⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! This was thee most AUTHENTIC place/space for a REAL Portuguese experience. It was HUMANISM at its finest, where you’re instantly in a moment of grassroots quick integration of getting to know people in an intimate environment!
You need to come to Quinta de Louredo and dive into the moment with Alfredo and his menagerie of farm animals, fruit and vegetable farm, and get a feel of sustainable farming.
Located in the Doro Valley, Quinta de Louredo gives you a feel of what life was like 100 years ago. The Tia, aunty, who helped cook, was an elder who cooks in a brick oven in a traditional style, unique to region. The sweet and whole grain breads, fruit spreads, smoked sausage, and salted beans were very scrumptious. Verde wine from the farm, Mika (if available due to Fall harvest), was a refreshing delight the entire time we were there. Reminder everyone, you can ONLY GET VERDE WINE IN PORTUGAL!
The end product of a four course meal consisting of green potato soup, turnip/sausage, watercress salad, pork/batatas, custard, and sweet noodles were amazing! Hands down must experience!! I would love to come back during the summer and just help out around the farm and dive into conscience sustainable farming, I’m mind, body, and soul. Mucho mahalo to Alfredo and his ‘Ohana for sharing their paradise with us! 😘😘😘
