The Luftfahrtmuseum Wernigerode boasts an impressive collection of over 50 meticulously restored airplanes and helicopters, displayed across 6,000 square meters of exhibition space. Spanning four halls, the museum also showcases a diverse array of aviation artifacts, including components, instruments, and historical equipment.
Visitors can get up close to iconic aircraft such as the MiG-21 and the Lockheed F-104 “Starfighter,” with some exhibits even allowing entry. A standout attraction is the walk-in Transall C-160, uniquely positioned on the museum’s roof, featuring a slide that offers a fun descent back to the ground.

Flight simulators both flown. Very good! Explanation top! Accompanying persons were also delighted! Definitely worth a trip! Anytime again!

We had an excellent guided tour of this impressive exhibition.
Thanks again for the uncomplicated Help center on leadership.
The exhibits are invariably excellently labeled. Everything has been
brought closer to the tour in a vivid and very understandable manner.

Great museum with interesting exhibits. For a privately run museum built without financial support, an extremely informative and worth seeing place. Compiled with love for the history of aviation. You can see the passion behind it.

Firstly I have to not normally my thing but it is my husbands! I was totally amazed at the quality and extent of exhibits and actually found it very interesting. Also had everything in English as well as German so most visitors could understand. There are some interactive things, some free some extra cost. Overall a very good museum and I suspect excellent for aircraft enthusiasts . Well worth the entrance fee

The visit to the museum including the flight simulator was a birthday present. We booked everything online. When we entered, we noticed that we had accidentally booked on the wrong date. The staff were very nice and helpful, though. Ms. Schamalisch made a lot of effort to organize the 1 hour in the simulator for us, even though it was a very busy weekend. There was hardly any free space in the simulator. Luckily, despite his break, Mr. Reinhard was ready to take us into the simulator straight away and accompany us. The experience was great, Mr. Reinhard was very attentive, helpful and handled everything professionally. The exhibition was not that big, but it was well organized and interesting. Thank you very much for this excellent experience.

We have been to Wernigerode three times now, the first time to the Aviation Museum. We were really surprised by the size of the museum. Even if you are not necessarily a fan of various aircraft and planes, this museum is well worth seeing and more than met our expectations. There are three large halls with many different objects and you can look at some of them from the inside or feel like a pilot yourself. The whole history of flight is also described very well and there are many different display cases and showcases and everyone can decide for themselves how much time they want to take to look at everything. There are also a few stations where you can try out experiments yourself. One highlight is the Trans-All machine, which you can visit via an external staircase and it is really overwhelming to sit in it. Then you can go back down via a slide that is also suitable for adults. We never thought we would see so many models there and it is a really great exhibition - a visit is absolutely recommended.

A really beautiful museum with lots of exhibits. Suitable for the whole family. Airplanes and helicopters from almost every era. Always worth a visit, a must if you are in Wernigerode.

An experience and definitely worth a visit!
Many exhibits, well presented, provide entertainment. The very friendly staff (who are also very nice and willing to answer questions from small children) really make it a very pleasant experience!

Well, who expects to find such a first-class aircraft museum in a place like Wernigerode ? (not exactly known in the annals of aviation history).
What a great museum.
There are numerous rooms with different exhibits, with a lot of detail. The cold war era hangar has a lot of great jets, many I didn't expect to see, like a Taker Hunter, Sabre, Mig and Starfigher to name a few. The older stuff is amazing too, with lots of love evident in the collections of memorabilia and instruments etc. There is some great tech evident in the displays, such as the interactive display where you can control an aircraft by moving your body - great stuff! We also had a go on the Me-109 simulator, which was awesome!
The week before we visited this museum, we went to the RAF museum in London, which is great - but we enjoyed the Luftfahrtmuseum at Wernigerode much more. The staff were friendly and tried hard with my very-average German and the facility was clean and beautifully presented and maintained. You can't miss it with the aircraft on the roof...
