The overview of the area is forest / river / loch walks - of varying gradients, lengths and difficulties - and getting out into nature.
A stunning area, and one that has so much to offer. Personally, I like to avoid the busy bits and go to places like... well, I'm not going to say, as I want to keep them quiet! Explore the area for yourself and you'll soon find favourite spots of your own!

On a Coach journey today, the view was spectacular, slight gradient, manageable, certainly worth it. Apparently this was where Queen Victoria took the view in.
Afterwards, we headed down to the cafe, walked in, the man serving asked us if we had masks, to which we replied we (my husband) we were exempt, he pressed us to prove this and eventually refused to serve us. We explained we did not have to prove any identification regarding this, I have checked this with the Scotland. Gov.
He came across as somewhat aggressive, rude, and arrogant, making us feel demeaned. There was no one else in the cafe and we tried to explain it was not law, he just was really sarcastic and said loudly "have a nice day".
Needless to say it spoiled a lovely day.
Another passenger who was also exempt and disabled went in as he desperately needed to use the toilet and was refused as he didn't have a mask.
I believe the man in the cafe needs re training to understand what excemption of masks mean.
Apart from that the beauty of the surroundings are worth the trip.
This incident made me feel really I should have had a big badge around my neck, equivalent to the Jews having to wear the Yellow Star on their clothing!

Due to recommendations on the net, my husband and I chose to stop at Tay Forest Park on our way down to Ayrshire. We got to the park not long after it opened and were pleased to find it quiet and few people around. It is a beautiful forested area with lovely waterfalls, mushrooms, gigantic trees and good hiking.

We parked at the almost empty car park at the foot of the hill and followed the way-marked trail for the Viewpoint. A long steep walk, there was a lot of logging work having been completed recently.
Once the path broadened and widen, we soon came across the Viewpoint, with good views over Kenmore and the Crannog Centre.
We decided not to head on for the higher path, but took the longer looping path back to the Car Park, coming back by a more narrow path in a lot of shade.
A good walk and good exercise with the bonus of a good view!

My wife and I walked through a good portion of the 'Ladywell' area and skirted the side of the 'Inver Brae' parts of Tay Forest Park yesterday, that formed part of our extended Braan Walk which we started and finished at The Hermitage.
The path can be quite muddy in places so sensible walking shoes are a must. Some of the walk is quite open but other areas are dense with very tall pine trees, the sun peeking through the trees adds a completely different dimension to it.
We were glad that this was the second part of our walk from the Hermitage as parts of the final 2 miles were quite steep heading down towards Inver.
A pleasant walk for folks that like peace and tranquillity as we never saw another soul between Rumbling Bridge and Inver Brae.

The Tay Forest Park is a large area of magnificent forest, woodland and hillsides with wonderful walks and opportunity to explore this incredibly beautiful area of Scotland. There are numerous trails and longer walks one can follow to experience incredible views and explore the regions natural treasures and history. It is well worthwhile researching the area to decide which aspect you wish to walk and explore. We love the 'big trees' area near Dunkeld where you can see some of the tallest trees (Douglas Firs) in the world alongside magnificent forests and slopes with amazing views. The various car parks have maps of trails and the walks are well signposted. Take binoculars and strong footware.

We did the walk in craigvinean forest to pine cone point last Saturday. The weather, scenery, paths, and views were all fantastic. It only takes around 40 minutes up gentle zig zag slopes to get to the big wooden pine cone with seats inside. If you walked alone you could easily do it quicker but we had the dog and an "elderly" parent haha!!! The view is fantastic and it is lovely walking amongst the tall trees with the smell of pine the whole way. I'd love to do this walk in each season. Stop in dunkeld for lunch after - I recommend the royal dunkeld hotel esp if you have a dog....see separate review!
