Possibly the worst venue I’ve ever had the misfortune to watch a gig at. The band were amazing but completely let down by the sheer awfulness of the venue. Where do I start? I’ve seen bigger chairs in a primary school, they are so close together that you can’t help but sit on your neighbours lap, regardless of size. There is no allocated seating so there is a horrible melee to get a seat and you then can’t sit with your friends, despite being fairly close to the front of the queue to get in. The acoustics are just loud and the stage lights are designed to burn your retinas. Forget any audience participation, you can’t as you can’t move and your face is in the back of someone else’s head. The seats are all on the same level so the visuals are poor wherever you are, and there are a lot of pillars which are perfect for obscuring your view if you are anywhere but the three seats dead centre. I felt genuinely sorry for the band playing their hearts out whilst everyone just sat there like rocks. It must have been completely demoralising.

Events are brilliant, staff are lovely, ticket prices are pretty good too but if you drink spirits with mixers its £4 a shot a double is £8, this is pretty expensive as paid cheaper in other Venues including Pubs.
It gets quite rammed in there too, I find it worrying if were an incident and you had to leave quickly.

Went with friends to see Secret Affair. Parking is plentiful with a multi story car park within 5 minutes walk. Excellent sound quality, great atmosphere, fantastic venue.

Tucked away place but ok inside for seeing ELO tribute band which were great. Good sound system and sort of cosy even with hundreds of people inside. The only niggle is that it was not tiered seating but that is a very minor comment. Has two bars so people could get drinks quickly at the start and during the interval. Excellent and clean toilet facilities.

I saw Brian Conley here and it was the perfect venue. Staff are fantastically friendly, and the church itself is a wonderful place. The venue offers gigs, comedy, and even stuff for kids. Definitely check it out!

Superb venue.come here and experience good sound and lighting and nice staff. a refreshing change from other venues recently visited for business. out of all the venues in East Anglia i would rate this first with Cambridge corn exchange being last.

Made my first visit here in December to see British Lion. Absolutely awesome show with a great atmosphere. Definitely on the look out for future events. If your driving there is very convenient car park nearby (don’t try to park in any roads immediately near the venue)

Over the years I have been going to many concerts at the art centre and have always enjoyed the easy going relaxed atmosphere feel of the place , also you can be very close to the action , well worth a visit if you can get tickets

This is a great little venue to see live music. Fantastic atmosphere created in this old church setting. Sound is excellent and the lights are good. The staff are extra friendly and helpful. Just seen British Lion (Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris) there .... how do they attract such fantastic bands????

We went to see two events at the Arts Centre and were very impressed with the venue. The first was a classical ensemble which came to Colchester as part of the Roman Rivers Festival which we thoroughly enjoyed. The second was a new Jazz Funk band. We contacted the management about the latter and we received a timely response which was thoughtful, addressed our points and was an example of excellent customer service. I am happy to recommend the Arts Centre.
